John Danks got touched for four runs on seven hits in five innings as the White Sox fell to the Tigers 5-3. Danks struck out one and walked four in the loss.

Our View:

Danks had been pitching very well over the last month, but he didn't have great stuff out there today. His one strikeout just shows you how he struggled today, but he still finished with 13 wins on the season.

September 28, 2009

John Danks only surrendered one earned run on three hits over nine innings in Monday's 6-1 win at Cleveland. He had one walk and fired seven strikeouts.

Our View:

This was a great effort from Danks as he collected his team-leading 13th win. This also marked his first career complete game, and he allowed one or less earned runs in three of his last four starts.

September 22, 2009

John Danks was lit up for seven earned runs on eight hits over six innings in Tuesday's 8-6 loss to the rival Twins at U.S. Cellular Field. He had three walks with two strikeouts, and gave up three homers.

Our View:

Danks fell to 12-10 following his nightmarish performance. He is winless over his last five starts, but allowed one or less earned runs in each of his previous two.

September 17, 2009

John Danks' eight dominant innings of one-run ball were but a distant memory by the time things finally wrapped up between the White Sox and Mariners on Thursday night. Bobby Jenks would allow two ninth inning runs to tie the game at 3-3 before the Mariners eventually prevailed 4-3 in 14 frames.

Our View:

A hard-luck loss for the 12-9 Danks. He now has a 3.59 ERA in 180.1 innings this season.

September 12, 2009

Despite pitching six shutout innings on Saturday, John Danks ended up with a no-decision, as Chicago rallied for a late 4-3 win over the Angels after its bullpen allowed three runs.

Our View:

It was Danks' first scoreless outing since July 3 (a span of 12 starts). On the season, he is now 12-9 with a 3.71 ERA in 28 starts.

September 6, 2009

John Danks allowed the Red Sox's powerful offense just three runs in six innings on Sunday, but got out-dueled by Jon Lester, as Chicago lost 6-1 at home.

Our View:

Danks has now allowed more than two runs just twice in his past six starts.

September 1, 2009

John Danks gave up three earned runs on six hits over seven innings in Tuesday's 4-3 loss at Minnesota. He had two walks and two strikeouts, and most of the damage came on a pair of solo homers by Michael Cuddyer.

Our View:

The Sox tied the game at 3-3 in the eighth inning, so Danks ends the night with a no-decision rather than a loss. He has allowed two or less earned runs in each of his previous four starts, and earned three wins over that span.

August 27, 2009

John Danks allowed two earned runs on six hits over six innings in Thursday's 9-5 win at Boston. He issued one walk and fired six strikeouts.

Our View:

August 22, 2009

John Danks was solid again on Saturday as the White Sox defeated the Orioles by a score of 4-1. Danks went 6.1 innings and allowed one run on three hits while walking six and striking out three.

Our View:

When Danks was throwing strikes tonight, he was nearly unhittable. The six walks were not good, but Danks did do a good job working around the free passes to get his team a win. This is his third straight solid start, and his ERA is now sitting at 3.85.

August 16, 2009

John Danks held the A's to just two runs on eight hits and a walk over 7.1 innings Sunday. He struck out three, but did not earn a decision as the White Sox dropped a 3-2 walk-off loss to Oakland.

Our View:

Danks has now put together back to back quality starts after getting shelled by the Angels on August 6th. Sunday's performance dropped his ERA below 4.00 for the first time since July 27th.

August 11, 2009

John Danks was in control from the hill in Tuesday's 3-1 win at Seattle, as he only issued one earned run on seven hits over eight innings. He had one walk and racked up eight strikeouts.

Our View:

Danks earned his 10th win of the season, and bounced back well from his last outing when he was rocked for six earned runs over 6.1 innings against the Angels.

August 6, 2009

John Danks struggled on Thursday as the White Sox fell to the Angels by a score of 9-5. Danks went 6.1 innings and allowed six runs on nine hits while walking three and striking out five. Danks is now 9-8 on the season.

Our View:

Danks has gotten hit around in his last two starts, but overall he has been pretty good in the last month or so. Danks has nine wins, and he should turn things around soon and add to that total.

August 1, 2009

John Danks gave up four earned runs on seven hits over six innings in Saturday's 14-4 win over the Yankees at U.S. Cellular Field. He issued four walks with five strikeouts.

Our View:

Danks did not have a solid outing, but the Sox provided plenty of offensive firepower for him to claim his team-leading ninth win of 2009. He has four wins over his last six starts.

July 27, 2009

John Danks, who had missed his previous starts with blisters on his left index finger, looked alright in his return to the mound against Minnesota on Monday, giving up two earned runs (four total) off six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in seven innings.

Our View:

Danks was tagged with the loss and dropped to 8-7 as a result, but it was still nice to see him get through seven innings of decent work after he'd missed his previous outing and failed to make it through the sixth his prior two.

July 23, 2009

MLB.com reports that John Danks will not miss any additional starts and is on tract to take the hill Monday.

Our View:

Danks has been suffering from blisters on his left index finger that caused him to miss his last scheduled start and falter in his previous one. It seems as though the blisters have healed up though and he will rejoin the team to throw a side session on Saturday. Assuming that goes well, he should be safe to once again employ in fantasy rotations.

July 21, 2009

John Danks has been scratched from Wednesday's scheduled start due to a blister and circulatory issue with his left index finger, according to ESPN.

Our View:

The Sox don't anticipate Danks missing more than one start, or needing to spend time on the DL. Carlos Torres is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Charlotte to take Danks' turn in the rotation for Wednesday.

July 17, 2009

John Danks picked up his eighth win of the season on Friday as the White Sox won a shootout with the Orioles by a score of 12-8. Danks went five innings and allowed three runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out three.

Our View:

Danks kept his team in a good position to win, and his offense complied to get him win number eight. Danks has been decent this season, and he is still a nice fantasy option in all leagues.

July 10, 2009

John Danks was tagged for four earned runs on four hits over 5.2 innings in Friday's 6-4 loss at Minnesota. He issued five walks with four strikeouts.

Our View:

Danks did not pitch well, and should be happy he ends the night with a no-decision rather than a loss. He did not surrender any runs over his previous two starts, and should bounce back fine.

July 3, 2009

John Danks was brilliant again on Friday night. He tossed 7.1 scoreless innings and allowed just five hits en route to his seventh victory. He struck out five against zero walks in Chicago's 5-0 win over the Royals.

Our View:

Danks has been stellar lately. He has a 14.1-inning scoreless streak and has rattled off five straight quality starts. He has his ERA down to 3.76.

June 28, 2009

John Danks evened up his record at 6-6 on Sunday as the White Sox blanked the Cubs 6-0. Danks went seven shutout innings and allowed four hits while walking four and striking out five.

Our View:

The roller-coaster ride that Danks has been on this season is frustrating for fantasy owners, but when he is right he can deliver starts like he did today. He should still be owned in all leagues, and owners need to hope these starts come on a more regular basis.

June 23, 2009

John Danks gave up three earned runs on three hits over seven innings in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Dodgers at U.S. Cellular Field. He had two walks and five strikeouts.

Our View:

Danks now has a losing record at 5-6, and is 1-4 at home. He threw 106 pitches tonight, with 66 landing for strikes.

June 17, 2009

John Danks was on top of his game as the White Sox defeated the Cubs 4-1 on Wednesday. He allowed just one run in seven innings, while striking out nine. He gave up just five hits and walked one.

Our View:

Danks has completed the seventh inning in each of his last two outings, though he had done so only once in his first 11 turns. Danks is a better pitcher than his current numbers suggest, and we think the numbers he puts up the rest of this season will back that up.

June 17, 2009

According to the Chicago Tribune, John Danks will start Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Our View:

Tuesday's contest (and Danks' scheduled start) was postponed due to weather, so Danks will stay on track and keep his regular spot in the rotation. His last outing was positive, so make sure he's in your lineup tonight.

June 10, 2009

John Danks threw a good game on Wednesday, but not nearly as good as Justin Verlander. Danks suffered his fifth loss of the season despite lasting 7.1 innings and allowing just two earned runs. He struck out seven, allowed five hits and walked two batters.

Our View:

Danks started off the season strong, but he's given up at least four runs in six of his last nine starts, including tonight. It was probably just a rough patch and there's a good chance that his best is yet to come.

June 5, 2009

John Danks struggled in Friday's 6-0 loss to the Indians at U.S. Cellular Field, as he was rocked for five earned runs on six hits over 5.2 innings. He had two walks and four strikeouts, and gave up three homers.

Our View:

Danks falls to 4-4 for the season, with a poor 5.10 ERA. He has not pitched well at home, as he is 1-2 over five outings.

May 31, 2009

John Danks was not his sharpest against Kansas City on Sunday, picking up a no decision after allowing four runs off nine hits and two walks with five strikeouts in 5.1 innings.

Our View:

Danks started off the season great but has been very shaky since. He remains a must-own due to his potentially dominant stuff, but he should continue to provide the occasional headache throughout the season.

May 21, 2009

John Danks rebounded to pick up his third win of the season on Wednesday as the the White Sox downed the Twins 7-4. Danks went 5.2 innings and allowed two runs on five hits while walking three and striking out seven.

Our View:

Danks was terrible in his last start, but he was much better tonight. He has been wildly inconsistent this season, but when he is on he is an excellent starting fantasy pitcher. Danks owners should hope for more of these outings, and he is good enough to do just that.

May 15, 2009

John Danks had a night to forget on Friday, as he was bounced after three innings in the White Sox' 8-3 loss to the Blue Jays. Danks gave up seven runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out three.

Our View:

Danks looked to be back on track after his last start, but he reverted back to the pitcher he showed in his previous two starts tonight. Danks needs to show some consistency if he is going to be a quality fantasy starter, and as of now he hasn't done that yet.

May 9, 2009

John Danks had a nice return to form on Saturday as he allowed just one run on four hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out ten but did not factor in the decision of the White Sox' 3-2 win over the Rangers.

Our View:

Danks' previous two starts were awful, but he looked great in this one. Fantasy owners have to be drooling over the ten Ks and the quality start was nice too. Here's hoping this version of Danks is the one that sticks around.

May 3, 2009

John Danks had his second straight disappointing start on Sunday. He allowed five runs on ten hits and a walk over just 5.1 innings and took the loss as Chicago fell to the Rangers 5-1.

Our View:

Danks was brilliant in his first three starts this season, but has hit a wall. He's allowed ten runs in his last 9.1 innings and has seen his ERA jump to 3.81. Hopefully Danks figures out what's gone wrong and returns to the form he showed in early April.

April 28, 2009

John Danks finally had a bad outing this season. He was roughed up by the Mariners, allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk over just four innings. He took the loss and is now 2-1 on the season.

Our View:

Danks was brilliant in his first three starts, but his miscue on Tuesday spiked his ERA from 0.95 to 2.74. He's still arguably the White Sox' best starter and this should just be chalked up to an off day on the mound.

April 22, 2009

John Danks picked up his second win of the season on Wednesday, going seven innings and allowing only one run on four hits while striking out three.

Our View:

Danks has been excellent this season, only allowing two runs total in his three starts. He has become a very reliable fantasy option, and Danks owners should expect more of this to come.

April 16, 2009

John Danks picked up the win against Tampa Bay on Thursday, allowing one run off a mere two hits and four walks while striking out eight in six innings of work.

Our View:

Danks has looked nearly untouchable in his first two starts of the season and appears fully capable of building off his breakout campaign from last year.

April 14, 2009

John Danks, who was scheduled to start on Tuesday against the Tigers, will instead start against the Rays on Thursday following the rain out. According to MLB.com, Jose Contreras will take his regular turn in the rotation on Wednesday, followed by Danks on Thursday, and Bartolo Colon on Friday.

Our View:

This move seems to have been made to set up a better match-up for the Sox. Danks will go against some good left-handed hitters in the Rays lineup instead of the Tigers, a team that doesn't have the same level of talent from the left side.

April 9, 2009

John Danks allowed three hits and struck out five batters while blanking the Royals over six innings on Thursday. He received a no-decision in the White Sox's 2-1 loss.

Our View:

Danks threw 95 pitches, 55 of which were strikes. Exceeding his '08 ERA of 3.32 might be a bit of a stretch, but he will provide some excellent value as a back-line starter in deeper mixed leagues.

April 3, 2009

John Danks pitched five strong innings against the D'Backs on Friday. He gave up no runs and just two hits.

Our View:

Danks also struck out five batters and exited with an efficient pitch count of 70, 44 of which went for strikes.

March 29, 2009

John Danks struck out five in five and two-thirds innings Sunday against the D'Backs. He also walked three and surrendered three runs on six hits.

Our View:

Danks has a 3.57 ERA this spring and has struck out 22 and walked seven. He claims he threw the best he has all spring but just ran out of gas after four innings, which is not good news a week before opening day.

March 19, 2009

John Danks made his fifth start of the spring in the White Sox 6-4 loss to San Francisco on Thursday. The lefty gave up four hits, a walk, and no runs while striking out five in five innings of work.

Our View:

Danks has looked rather hittable this spring with 19 hits in 17 innings, but he has not given up any home runs and he has a 9.0 K/9 rate. If he is able to generate more ground balls, he could be on the verge of another steep improvement in 2009.

March 14, 2009

John Danks had his best outing of the spring as he lasted five innings against the Rangers on Saturday. He allowed three hits, walked two, struck out three, and gave up one earned run.

Our View:

The 24-year-old improved by a large margin last year from his rookie season in 2007. Such a drastic improvement in 2009 cannot be expected, but he should remain a solid a pitcher. We would like to see him get more ground balls, but we'll be very satisfied if he can simply reproduce his 2008 peripherals.

March 9, 2009

John Danks got shelled by the Indians in his spring start on Monday, allowing six runs on eight hits and one walk through just two innings. Five of the six runs were earned.

Our View:

This should just be a minor bump in the road for Danks who we expect to win around 15 games in 2009.

March 5, 2009

John Danks made a very nice start for the White Sox on Wednesday, pitching three scoreless innings while allowing no walks, three hits, and striking out four.

Our View:

Danks went 12-9 in 2008 and was just five innings shy of 200 in 33 starts. He could improve even further in 2009 and 15 wins wouldn't be a stretch.

February 26, 2009

John Danks signed a one-year, $520,000 deal with the White Sox on Wednesday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

Danks started 33 games for the White Sox in 2008m going 12-9 with a 3.32 ERA. He made a wise career choice in avoiding the World Baseball Classic, which will allow him to progress steadily in his young career.

January 22, 2009

John Danks has decided to skip the World Baseball Classic, according to MLB.com. He was invited to represent Team USA.

Our View:

He was honored to be considered, but noted that his top priority is with the White Sox. He added that he is being counted on to pitch 200 plus innings and needs to come ready to spring training.
