The A's have inquired about Royals' infielder Alberto Callaspo, but talks reportedly did not go well, according to FOX Sports.
Our View:
The Athletics would have used Callaspo at third base with Mark Ellis staying at second. Discussions ended when the two sides could not agree on a player that would get shipped to Kansas City in exchange for Callaspo. The Royals feel they can move Callaspo after acquiring second baseman Chris Getz from Chicago.

Our View:
Callaspo is tearing the cover off the ball this month. He's hitting .357 with three homers and 22 RBI. To put it in perspective, that's just three less RBI than Ryan Howard has in his monster September.

Our View:
Callaspo has his average up to .299 on the year, but he is not a big power threat hitting at the end of the Royals' order. He is a good on-base guy, and his 43 runs scored are a solid number for an AL-only second baseman.

Our View:
Callaspo is now hitting over .300 and has quietly drive in 31 runs for the season. There are certainly better options at second base in most formats, but Callaspo could serve as a decent fill-in.

Our View:
Callaspo is enjoying a power surge as he hit a homer in two of his last three games. He is riding a six-game hitting streak as well, and he should remain employed in fantasy lineups while he is hot.

Alberto Callaspo was a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run and three singles as the Royals crushed the Indians 9-0 on Wednesday. He had four RBI and two runs scored in the win, but he was also caught stealing in his first attempt of the season.
Our View:
Callaspo has a hit in each of his last four games, and a total of eight in that stretch. However, tonight marked his first RBI since May 16, a span of 20 games.

Our View:
Is a Silver Slugger award in his future? Hardly, but Callaspo has been a great offensive bonus to club that has been without middle of the presence weapons Jose Guillen and Alex Gordon. Dating back to the start of last season Callaspo has hit .317, and that marks him as one valuable middle infield option in AL-only leagues.
