Newsbreakers

November 6, 2009

The deal sending Mark Teahen to the White Sox in exchange for Chris Getz and Josh Fields is now official, according to MLBTradeRumors.com.

Our View:

The deal is finalized on the same day the White Sox officially decline Jermaine Dye's option for 2010. It looks like Teahen will be the team's right fielder next season.

November 5, 2009

The New York Daily News is reporting that the Chicago White Sox have acquired Mark Teahen from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for Chris Getz and Josh Fields. Teahen hit .271 with 12 homers and 50 RBI last season.

Our View:

Interesting move here for the Sox, as Teahen is coming off a sub-par year by his standards. He is a career .277 hitter with 12 homers and 41 RBI against the Sox in his career, so maybe they just got sick of facing him. He is expected to replace Jermaine Dye as the everyday right fielder for the Sox.

September 28, 2009

Mark Teahen went 1-for-3 with a solo homer off Chad Gaudin in tonight's 8-2 loss at New York.

Our View:

Teahen snapped a 14-game drought without a homer, and holds a poor .170 average over 47 at-bats this month.

September 17, 2009

The Kansas City Star reports that Mark Teahen (back spasms) will likely miss Thursday's series finale against the Tigers.

Our View:

Teahen went down last Saturday with muscle spasms and was available as an emergency-only player on Wednesday, but the Royals don't look like they're going to push him to get back in the lineup any time soon. Consider him day-to-day.

September 14, 2009

The Kansas City Star is reporting that the Royals sent Mark Teahen back to KC before Sunday's game to have his ailing back examined by a doctor. Teahen said it was just a precautionary measure and he expects to be back with the team when they being a series with the Tigers on Tuesday.

Our View:

This injury sure doesn't seem serious, so expect Teahen to be back in the lineup Tuesday unless something unexpected comes back from the tests. He said it was already feeling better, so nothing to worry about here.
