Joe Saunders didn't last long in his final start of the 2009 season. He was chased in the fourth inning after allowing three runs, and the Yankees went on to win 5-2 to clinch the ALCS.
Saunders was staked to a 1-0 lead in the third inning but gave it back and then some in the fourth. He allowed seven hits and five walks in just 3.1 innings, and one has to wonder why Mike Scioscia didn't pull him sooner.
According to the
There is a 90 percent chance of rain tonight, and MLB is considering just pushing the game back before everyone gets to the park. We will keep you updated as they day goes on, but don't be shocked if this one gets rained out.
Joe Saunders had a solid start for the Angels on Saturday, but after a wild game that saw a little bit of everything the Halos eventually fell in 13 innings. The 4-3 loss put them in a 2-0 ALCS hole and gave the Yankees a very cushy situation.
Saunders allowed just two runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings. He fanned five, but didn't receive a decision for his efforts. The Angles are in trouble, but none of the blame should be directed at Saunders, who did everything the team asked of him.
Joe Saunders earned his 16th victory in the Angels regular season finale on Sunday. He allowed two runs on six hits and three walks over five innings in a 5-3 win over the A's.
The win total for Saunders is nice, but fantasy owners were likely expecting a better ERA than the 4.60 mark he wound up with. Last season he posted a 3.41 showing, but that season is looking more and more like an aberration.
Joe Saunders held the A's to three runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings on Sunday, and improved to 15-7 with the 7-4 win.
Saunders hasn't been all that impressive this season, but has turned it on in September, going 4-0 with a 2.78 ERA. He has now totaled 32 wins over the last two seasons.
