Newsbreakers

July 16, 2010

J.J. Hardy went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Minnesota's 7-4 win over the White Sox.

Our View:

Hardy has been hitting the ball since returning from the DL on July 3, hitting .379 in that time. Of course, he has only three RBI over the same span, but two of them have come since the break.

July 3, 2010

As expected, the Twins activated J.J. Hardy from the disabled list on Saturday, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Matt Tolbert was placed on the DL to create a spot on the roster.

Our View:

Hardy, who has been sidelined since early June with a wrist injury, will return as the Twins' everyday shortstop. His return is certainly welcomed, as the Twins are 24-11 with him in the lineup this season, and 20-25 without him.

July 2, 2010

1500 ESPN reports that J.J. Hardy should be activated from the DL tomorrow according to Ron Gardenhire.

Our View:

The .217-3-13-hitting shortstop has been sidelined since June 7 with a wrist injury.

June 16, 2010

J.J. Hardy's wrist is improving, though he's still not close to swinging a bat, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:

He's eligible to come off the DL on June 21, though it doesn't sound like he'll be back anytime this month. He'll first have to show the capability to swing, and then go out on a rehab assignment.

June 11, 2010

Updating an earlier item, J.J. Hardy's (wrist) placement on the 15-day disabled list was done retroactively to June 6.

Our View:

Trevor Plouffe will apparently start in his place, with Nick Punto sliding over to second base. Considering this is the second time this season Hardy will miss time with the injury, don't expect his absence to be a short one.
