Newsbreakers

August 30, 2009

Jack Hannahan went 2-for-4 with a home run filling in for the injured Russell Branyan at first base on Saturday night, helping the Mariners to an 8-4 win over the Royals at home.

Our View:

Hannahan's .219 average should dissuade you from using him as Branyan's replacement in your fantasy lineup, however.

July 29, 2009

Jack Hannahan went 3-for-4 with and RBI on Tuesday as the Mariners beat the Blue Jays by a score of 4-3. Hannahan is hitting .208 this season.

Our View:

Hannahan now has 10 hits in 13 games for the M's, and he is starting to pick it up at the plate. He is still a very poor fantasy option, but he may be able to help the team if he keeps hitting.

July 11, 2009

Jack Hannahan has been acquired by the Mariners, according to CSN.

Our View:

He will report to Double-A Midland. Hannahan was batting just .193 in 119 at-bats for the A's this season, and is not an option in any format.

May 30, 2009

Jack Hannahan was scratched from Saturday's lineup against Texas due to back spasms, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:

Gregorio Petit replaced him at third base. The A's are yet to update Hannahan's status.

April 25, 2009

Jack Hannahan hit his first home run of the season on Friday in a losing effort. He was 1-for-2 on the day, but the Rays topped the A's 8-2.

Our View:

This was Hannahan's first start of the season and he blasted a home run. Not a bad start, but he'll have to produce consistently for a bit before he even makes a ripple in AL-only leagues.

April 24, 2009

Jack Hannahan has been recalled by the Athletics from Triple-A Sacramento, according to the ContraCosta Times. The club optioned Sean Gallagher to Sacramento as the adjoining move.

Our View:

Hannahan was batting .157 with two home runs and seven RBI over 13 games with Sacramento prior to his promotion, and hit .218 over 436 at-bats with the A's in 2008. The 29-year-old vet does not merit fantasy consideration outside of deeper AL-only leagues.
