Newsbreakers

November 4, 2009

Ryan Howard finally found his home run stroke in Game 6 of the World Series, but it was too late as the Phillies fell to the Yankees 7-3. Howard was 1-for-4 on the evening with a home run, a run scored, and two RBI. Howard also struck out for the 13th time in the World Series, setting a new record.

Our View:

Other than Chase Utley, the Philly offense really struggled in this series. Howard was a strikeout machine after he killed the ball in the previous two series, and his homer tonight just wasn't enough to take this thing to Game 7.

October 19, 2009

Ryan Howard kept his amazing postseason going on Monday as the Phillies came from behind to beat the Dodgers 5-4. Howard went 1-for-3 with a first inning homer, a run scored, and two RBI in the win.

Our View:

For those of you keeping track at home, that makes eight straight postseason games with an RBI. He is amazing, and he has the Phillies up 3-1 in the best of seven NLCS.

October 18, 2009

Ryan Howard set a major league record by driving in a run in seventh straight postseason game to help the Phillies to an 11-0 win over the Dodgers. Howard was 1-for-4 in Sunday's win with a triple, a run scored, and three RBI in the win.

Our View:

Howard has been an absolute monster in this postseason, and his RBI record just shows how clutch this guy really is. If he keeps hitting and his teammates keep getting on in front of him, he should continue this amazing stretch as long as the Phils are alive.

October 16, 2009

Ryan Howard went 2-for-3 with a single and a solo homer off Vicente Padilla in Friday's 2-1 loss at the Dodgers in Game 2 of the NLCS.

Our View:

Howard had a solid outing at the plate, but could not lead the Phillies to a win. The series is now tied at 1-1 and will move to Philadelphia for Game 3. Howard has three RBI over the first two battles.

October 12, 2009

Ryan Howard laced a game-tying two run double in the ninth inning on Monday night, propelling the Phillies to a 5-4 win in Denver, and a 3-1 series win over the Rockies in the NLDS.

Our View:

Howard now has 16 RBI in 21 career playoff games. He's truly one of the great players of our time.
