Newsbreakers

September 24, 2009

Lastings Milledge's seventh inning solo home run would be all the Pirates could muster on Thursday, as they lost 4-1 to the Reds at home.

Our View:

Milledge is now batting .312 with one home run and five RBI in 20 September games.

September 20, 2009

Lastings Milledge picked up three of the Pirates' eight hits on Sunday, as the Bucs lost 4-0 to the Padres at home.

Our View:

Milledge has been a hot-hitter since the beginning of August, batting .301 with two home runs and 13 RBI. He could finally have a breakout season in 2010.

September 18, 2009

Lastings Milledge fared well in tonight's 5-1 win over the Padres at PNC Park, as he went 2-for-3 with two singles and an RBI. He also swiped a base.

Our View:

Milledge was in need of a solid performance, as he was 0-for-10 over his previous three games. He also ended a 20-game drought without a stolen base.

September 5, 2009

Lastings Milledge went 2-for-4 with an RBI in tonight's 2-1 loss to St. Louis at PNC Park. He hit a single and a double.

Our View:

The Pirates only had six hits in the game, and Milledge was their lone source of scoring. He raised his season average to .300, and has a five-game hitting streak.

August 6, 2009

Lastings Milledge was 2-for-5 with a run, an RBI and a steal on Thursday, but the Pirates lost to Arizona 11-6 in 12 innings.

Our View:

Milledge is still just 8-for-29 (with zero home runs) since joining the Pirates, however, and has some work to do before proving he's worth an own outside of NL-only leagues.
