Newsbreakers

September 16, 2009

Omar Infante went 2-for-4 with two RBI on Wednesday night, including the game tying one in the ninth, as Atlanta rallied to beat the Mets 6-5 at home.

Our View:

It was Infante's first multi-RBI game of the month. With just 24 on the year, his value is limited even in NL-only leagues.

September 11, 2009

Omar Infante went 1-for-2 with a single and an RBI in tonight's 1-0 win at St. Louis.

Our View:

His hit in the second inning proved to be a game-winner for Atlanta, as the Cardinals could not score any runs. Infante did not record any RBI over his previous six games.

August 11, 2009

Updating a previous report, the Braves have activated Omar Infante off the DL, according to the Twitter page of beat writer Mark Bowman. Infante is in Tuesday's lineup, playing third and batting seventh.

Our View:

It had been reported that the Braves were hoping to get Infante activated by tonight, so this isn't a huge surprise. He won't have any fantasy value, but he is a nice source of depth on the infield for the Braves.

August 10, 2009

MLB.com is reporting that Braves' infielder Omar Infante could be activated in time for Tuesday's game against the Nationals. Infante has been on the DL since late May with a fractured hand.

Our View:

Infante will provide some depth up the middle for the Braves when he returns, but he isn't the type of player that can make a huge impact. He will get some at-bats, but not nearly enough to consider him a fantasy option.

August 2, 2009

Omar Infante will make a minor league rehab start on Tuesday, according to OurSports Central. "I want to see some pitches for a while, and if I do that, I think I'll be OK," Infante said. "When I come back here (Atlanta), I want to be loose and comfortable."

Our View:

Infante fractured his left hand when he was hit by a pitch on May 20. No word yet exactly when he's expected to be back with Atlanta, but he should go right back to his utility role when he does and most likely not get enough at-bats to gain any fantasy relevance.
