Andres Torres provided all of the Giants' offense on Sunday as his team fell to the Dodgers 6-2. Torres went 2-for-4 with two homers, two runs scored, and two RBI in the game.
The Giants only had five hits today, and Torres had two big ones. He only had three homers coming into today's game, so don't expect many more performances like this.
Andres Torres' two-run homer in the third inning would be all the Giants offense could muster on Wednesday, as San Francisco lost a critical game 4-2 to the Padres at home.
The home run was just Torres' third in 58 games this season. He has almost no value in NL-only leagues.
TSN.com reports that the Giants have activated outfielder Andres Torres from the 15-day disabled list.
Torres landed on the DL with a strained left hamstring, which has plagued him virtually all season. He hit .247 with a pair of homers and 13 RBI in 53 games with the Giants this season. He will likely be used off the bench.
Andres Torres has been placed on the 15-day DL with a strained left hamstring, according to the Associated Press. John Bowker was recalled from Triple-A Fresno as the adjoining move.
Torres missed 26 games with the same injury earlier in the season. He does not believe the injury is quite as severe this time though, and anticipates coming off the DL when first eligible.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Andres Torres is slated to undergo an MRI on his injured left hamstring Friday.
The Giants feel the injury is just a strain, but if it's serious enough to warrant an MRI then it must be at least somewhat serious. Torres missed significant time earlier this season with a similar injury, so this is nothing new. He pulled the hammy rounding the bases on Thursday.
Andres Torres exited Thursday's battle with Philadelphia with a possible hamstring injury.
Torres started the game in center field in place of the ailing Aaron Rowand. We will keep you posted on Torres' status.
Andres Torres has been activated from the DL by the Giants, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. He was on the shelf since April 28 with a hamstring injury.
Torres is not a good hitter and has little power, and the 31-year-old reserve outfielder does not garner fantasy attention.
