According to MLB.com, Yankees' infielder Cody Ransom has accepted an assignment to Triple-A Scranton. Ransom was designated by the team on August 5.
Ransom hit .190 with the Yanks this season, and if you can't hit in new Yankee Stadium, you can't hit anywhere. Don't expect to see him making a contribution in the majors any time soon.
According to Tyler Kepner's Twitter account, the Yankees have designated Cody Ransom for assignment.
Ransom was let go to make room for reliever Anthony Claggett. He was hitting just .190 in 79 at-bats this season, and didn't make the Yankees decision to DFA him very difficult.
As expected, Cody Ransom has been activated from the 60-day DL following his recovery from a strained right quad, according to the Associated Press. Angel Berroa was designated for assignment as the adjoining move.
Ransom is a light hitter, but should see some action at third base while providing a breather for A-Rod. He is worth a look for AL-only leagues.
Cody Ransom is set to come off the 60-day DL Wednesday following his recovery from a strained right quad, according to the Star-Ledger.
The Yankees will either place him on their major league roster, or will designate him for assignment. Ransom is not a solid hitter, but could provide depth at third base to spell A-Rod.
According to the Journal News, infielder Cody Ransom played in his first rehab game in Triple-A Scranton on Thursday. Ransom homered in his second at-bat of the game. He is recovering from a strained right quad.
Ransom got his rehab assignment off to a good start, and it looks like he could be back with the Yankees within a few weeks. His fantasy value will still be very limited, however, as he is more of a reserve player than anything for the Yankees.
Cody Ransom was assigned to Triple-A to begin his rehab assignment, according to TSN. He has been recovering from a strained quad muscle.
Barring a setback, Ransom could return to New York in mid-June. When he does come back, his fantasy value will be limited to deeper leagues while fighting for playing time as a reserve.
Cody Ransom has been placed on the DL due to a strained quad muscle, according to the Journal News.
What the club will do to replace the .180 hitting Ransom is unknown, though Angel Berroa might be an option. The Yankees also have another third baseman working a rehab stint who could return in a couple of weeks. Some guy named A-Rod.
Cody Ransom is struggling, but is likely to make another start at third base Monday against the Rays, according to the Star-Ledger. Ransom is 1-for-20 at the plate and committed an error in the field, but manager Joe Girardi still has faith in him as he said, "He hit a ball hard on Saturday just foul. I mean he has not really had any luck. I am happy with the way he is playing and his effort. It will turn. You know it is going to turn. It is just not fun to start out this way."
Girardi feels that Ransom's luck will change, and is not considering benching him for Ramiro Pena at third.
The Star-Ledger believes Cody Ransom will likely see the bulk of the workload at third base while Alex Rodriguez recovers from arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn labrum.
If so, Ransom would start for the first 2-4 weeks of the regular season, making him worth a look in AL-only leagues. Ransom won't offer much speed, but he has pop in his bat and can hit for a solid average.
