The San Diego Padres will move the fences in at the spacious Petco Park sometime in the future, according to FoxSports.com.

Our View:Petco is where power goes to die, as it is an enormous advantage for pitchers. For example, Adrian Gonzalez hit .247 with 14 home runs and 49 RBI at home, but .308 with 22 home runs and 70 RBI on the road.

GM Kevin Towers stated that he has no intention of trading star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, according to the NY Post. Towers said, "Adrian would be the most difficult guy for us to move. I don't see any circumstances in which we would do it. He is young, under control for three more years (at the incredible bargain total of $13.25 million), has plus offense and plus defense."

Our View:Gonzalez is also a San Diego native. The Padres struggled in 2008, but Gonzalez remained a rock of consistency, as he held a .361 on-base percentage, with 36 homers, 119 RBI, and 103 runs scored.

The AP reports that Bud Black is coming back as manager of the San Diego Padres despite the club’s worst finish in 15 seasons. “We have the confidence and trust in Buddy to lead the club back to our winning ways,” general manager Kevin Towers said in a statement. “When we hired him before the 2007 season, the most important element to us was to bring in a manager who would continue to grow with the Padres organization.”

Our View:The Padres have to make changes somewhere so expect some roster moves to be made before the start of next season.

Adrian Gonzalez went 2-for-3 and homered for the 35th time this season in San Diego's 6-2 victory over the Nationals.

Our View:Gonzalez has been a steady presence of offense for the Padres, and one of the only members of that team fantasy owners have been able to count on.
September 20, 2008
Adrian Gonzalez went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Saturday's 6-1 win over Washington. His hit was a single.

Our View:He collected his 115th RBI of the season, with 21 coming over 19 games in September.
