Newsbreakers

November 8, 2009

It would take a knockout offer to entice the Padres to trade Adrian Gonzalez this offseason, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Our View:

Rosenthal says it would probably take major league players, and not just prospects. With Gonzalez having two extremely affordable years left on his contract, it's highly unlikely he'll be moved this winter.

October 4, 2009

Adrian Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the Padres 2-0 win over the Giants on Saturday.

Our View:

A-Gon now has 99 RBI this season and needs one tally in tomorrow's regular season finale to reach his third consecutive season with 100.

September 27, 2009

Adrian Gonzalez cracked his 40th home run of the season in a 7-4 loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday. He finished the day 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Our View:

The 40-homer campaign is the first of the young slugger's career and he is just two RBI away from his third straight season of reaching the century mark.

September 27, 2009

Adrian Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two walks in the Padres 8-5 loss to the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Our View:

Gonzalez is enjoying a fine month of September to cap another solid season in San Diego. With one more home run and four more RBI he'll reach the 40-100 mark for the first time in his impressive young career. He also reached the 100-walk plateau for the first time in 2009 with 110.

September 25, 2009

Adrian Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two singles and an RBI in tonight's 4-0 win at Arizona.

Our View:

Gonzalez has 19 RBI this month, and continues to lead the Padres with 95. He is trying to reach 100 RBI for the third straight season.
