Newsbreakers

October 3, 2009

Alex Rios went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two stolen bases in Chicago's 5-1 win over the Tigers.

Our View:

Rios has been a huge disappointment this season, especially since he was traded to Chicago, but he got to play spoiler on Saturday. The Tigers are now in a first place tie with the Twins after the loss to Rios and the Sox.

September 19, 2009

According to the Chicago Tribune, outfielders Alex Rios and Jermaine Dye are back in the Saturday's lineup for the White Sox.

Our View:

Rios and Dye both spent Friday's game on the bench, but they get back in the action Saturday for Jake Peavy's debut. Looks like the Sox want to stack the lineup and ensure a "W" for Peavy in his first start. Playing the Royals will certainly help.

August 22, 2009

Right fielder Alex Rios and first baseman Paul Konerko are both out of the White Sox lineup vs. the Orioles on Saturday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

Just regular rest for both. Scott Podsednik is taking Rios' spot, while Mark Kotsay is spelling Konerko.

August 19, 2009

Alex Rios' first White Sox home run was one of the three the team hit off of Royals ace Zack Greinke on Wednesday, as the South Siders won 4-2 at home.

Our View:

Rios' two-hit day upped his average to .275 in seven White Sox games. He now has as many hits, eight, as strikeouts in his new black-and-white dubs.

August 16, 2009

Alex Rios went 0-for-4 on Sunday and stranded four runners in the White Sox' 3-2 loss to the A's.

Our View:

Rios now has just three hits in five games since joining the White Sox. The new addition is hitting just .130 with one RBI and one extra-base hit.
