The Rockies are reportedly trying to work out a deal with catcher Miguel Olivo, according to FOX Sports.

Our View:

Olivo was on Colorado's radar since the club had trouble negotiating with Yorvit Torrealba. Chris Iannetta would likely be their No. 1 catcher, but Olivo could generate power as a backup while playing his home games at Coors Field.

The Royals declined to offer Miguel Olivo salary arbitration, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:

This was to be expected, as Kansas City paid a $100,000 buyout in November to void a $3.3MM option on the veteran catcher for next season. Offering Olivo arbitration would have pushed his 2010 salary even higher. He wants a multi-year deal, so he likely played his last game with the Royals.

Miguel Olivo led the Royals offensively in tonight's 11-0 win at Chicago, as he went 2-for-3 with six RBI. He hit two homers, one off Mark Buehrle and the other Jhonny Nunez.

Our View:

Olivo continues to generate solid power, as he hit six homers over 10 games this month. He collected 23 homers for 2009, and needs four more to reach 100 for his career.

Miguel Olivo had just one hit in the Royals 9-2 win over the Tigers on Thurdsay, but it was a big one. His three-run homer off of Edwin Jackson put the Royals up by five and they never looked back.

Our View:

Olivo now has 21 bombs on the season, five more than his previous career high. He's a nice power option at catcher, especially in AL-only leagues, but his .248 average leaves a little something to be desired.

Miguel Olivo went 2-for-4 with two RBI in tonight's 2-1 win at Cleveland. He hit a single a solo homer off Jose Veras.

Our View:

Olivo crushed his homer in the top of the 12th inning, which proved to lead the Royals to a win. Olivo has a homer in two of his last three games, and needs one more to reach 20 in a season for the first time in his career.

Our View:

Olivo has 17 homers this season, great power production for a catcher, but is hitting just .242. A .164 month of July killed his average.

Our View:

Olivo has a five-game hitting streak, with one homer and four RBI over the span. He is hitting .286 this month as well, after holding a dismal .164 batting average in July.

Our View:

Olivo hit a homer in each of his last two games, and tied his career season-high with 16. He should remain a solid source for power among catchers for fantasy owners that can handle his .246 batting average.

Our View:

Olivo leads the Royals with 13 homers, and should remain a nice source for power among fantasy catchers if you can deal with his .249 batting average. Eight of his homers were launched in June.

According to FOX Sports, Miguel Olivo has been suspended for one game due to a heated argument with an umpire in Pittsburgh last Saturday.

Our View:

Olivo was also fined an undisclosed amount for his expletive-laced rant. Olivo chose to serve the suspension today, leaving the Royals without an experienced catcher. John Buck is currently out with a back injury.

Our View:

Olivo has started to show off the power stroke, as he has homered four times this week. Fantasy owners should keep him in the lineup while he is hitting for power, but don't expect him to keep it up for long.

Olivo has been quiet this season, and his fantasy value just isn't very good. Still, he can occasionally provide some good games, so Royals fans should hope that he can make leaving the yard a more regular occurrence.

Our View:

Olivo has some pop in his bat, but is not worth employing in fantasy lineups right now, namely in leagues that penalize points for strikeouts.

Our View:

The homer was Olivo's first and just his second extra-base hit on the season. He's only .167 on the season, and if you have other options at catcher, it's probably best to use that guy.

Our View:

Olivo has been promised the starting job this season in Kansas City, but he has always owned a terrible OBP as he simply cannot draw a walk. While he's having a good spring, he is at best a backup catcher in fantasy leagues.

Our View:

Olivo has been solid this spring and will start for the Royals this season, but he is a late option at catcher for fantasy owners. Especially in mixed leagues.
