November 3, 2009

Mark Teixeira is batting an abysmal .105 (2-for-19) through the first five games of the World Series.

Our View:

For the entire playoffs, he's hitting just .172. He has twice as many strikeouts, 16, as RBI, seven. Apparently, $180 million doesn't buy nearly as many clutch hits as it used to. The Yanks have come to within one game of their 27th championship despite his invisible bat, but if the Phillies come back to win the series, it will be hard not to label Tex's woes as one of the main culprits.

October 29, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 1-for-3 with a solo homer off Pedro Martinez in tonight's 3-1 win over the Phillies in Game 2 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium.

Our View:

Teixeira helped New York even the series at 1-1, and is putting his unimpressive ALCS behind him, when he only hit .222 over 27 at-bats (eight strikeouts) against the Angels.

October 22, 2009

Mark Teixeira finally broke out at the dish on Thursday, but it came in a losing effort as the Yankees fell to the Angels 7-6 in Game 5. Teixeira went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and three RBI in the game.

Our View:

Tex got the Yanks back in the game with his three-run double in the seventh, but his team could not finish off LA tonight. If he can stay hot, Big Tex and the Yanks stand a good chance of winning this series.

October 9, 2009

Mark Teixeira hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Yankees a 4-3 win over the Twins. They now hold a 2-0 lead in the ALDS as the series shifts to Minnesota.

Our View:

Tex went 2-for-5 in the game and his other hit was a leadoff single in front of A-Rod's game-tying, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth off Twins closer Joe Nathan. The big first baseman also had several strong defensive plays to keep the Yanks in the game.

September 29, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 with a single and a solo homer off Anthony Lerew in tonight's 4-3 win over the Royals at Yankee Stadium.

Our View:

Teixeira swatted a homer in back-to-back games, and needs one more to reach 40 in a season for the second time in his career. He continues to lead the AL with 121 RBI as well.

September 27, 2009

Mark Teixeira unloaded for his 38th homer of the season in the Yankees 4-2 division clinching win over the Red Sox on Sunday. He was 2-for-4 on the day.

Our View:

The Bombers are headed back to the postseason and it has a lot to do with Tex and his big bat. Not to mention the tiny ballpark that heavily favors lefties. Still, the big man is hitting .351 with six homers and 19 RBI in the season's final month.

September 20, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in the Yankees' 7-1 loss to the Mariners on Sunday. Teixeira is hitting .292 on the season.

Our View:

The Yankees didn't do much offensively today, but Tex still had a nice day with three hits. He is earning every cent of the big money contract the Yanks signed him too in the offseason, and he remains in the upper-echelon of fantasy players.

September 20, 2009

Mark Teixeira was an offensive stalwart on Saturday night as he went 4-for-5 with two homers and five RBI in the Yankees 10-1 beating they handed to the Mariners.

September 7, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 11-1 win over the Rays at Yankee Stadium in the nightcap of their doubleheader. He hit a double and two homers, one off Andy Sonnanstine and the other Jeff Bennett.

Our View:

August 27, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Thursday's 7-2 loss to Texas at Yankee Stadium. Both of his knocks were singles.

August 19, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBI in tonight's 3-2 win at Oakland.

Our View:

Teixeira recorded his fifth homer of August, and his 31st of 2009 - which ties him with Carlos Pena for the AL lead.

August 12, 2009

Mark Teixeira is not in the Yankees' lineup for their Wednesday afternoon game against the Blue Jays. He will be replaced by Nick Swisher at first base.

Our View:

Just a day off for Big Tex today, so nothing to worry about. Teixeira will continue to be a solid fantasy play for the rest of the season, and he should be considered for the AL MVP award before it is all said and done.

August 9, 2009

July 19, 2009

Mark Teixeira led the way for the Yankees again on Sunday as his team defeated the Tigers by a score of 2-1. Teixeira was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, a run scored, and an RBI.

Our View:

Tex seems to do this every day, and he now has 23 home runs and 67 RBI to go along with his .280 average. His numbers should stay on the top end of the spectrum thanks to his hitter-friendly home ballpark and the fact that he is one of the best switch-hitters in the game today.

July 18, 2009

Mark Teixeira had another big night for the Yankees on Friday as his team beat the Tigers by a score of 5-3. Teixiera went 3-for-5 with a home run, a run scored, and three RBI.

Our View:

July 9, 2009

Mark Teixeira pounded his 21st home run of the year on Thursday in the Yankees' 6-4 win over the Twins. Teixeira went 1-for-4 with the homer, a run scored, and an RBI in the win.

Our View:

Tex had been struggling, but he has had a nice series against the Twins. He is hitting .281 on the year, and his home run and RBI total are solid. He is still a very good fantasy player.

July 7, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 4-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored in tonight's 10-2 win at Minnesota. All four of his knocks were singles.

Our View:

He hit his fourth homer of June, and his 20th of the season - which currently leads the AL. He also leads the Yankees with 54 RBI.

June 10, 2009

Mark Teixeira was 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, an RBI, and two runs scored in the Yankees 6-5 loss to the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Our View:

Teixeira has been an absolute monster at the dish over the past month. His average is all the way up to .296 after spending the first month of the season under .200. He ranks first in the AL in home runs (19), third in OPS (1.042), fourth in RBI (52), and first in slugging (.643).

June 9, 2009

The Associated Press reports that it is shorter dimensions at the new Yankee Stadium, and not wind, that have caused the alarming spike in home runs from the old Yankee Stadium. AccuWeather.com claims that 20 of the 105 homers hit so far in the stadium would not have gone out at the original Yankee Stadium.

Our View:

The Yankees continue to vigorously refute claims that the the dimensions are actually shorter at the new Yankee Stadium, but it is fast becoming clear that this is not the case. Whatever the cause, expect even more balls to be flying out as summer and hotter temperatures and higher humidity settle into the Bronx.

Mark Teixeira had another solid performance at the plate on Saturday in the Yankees' 9-7 loss to the division rival Rays. Teixeira went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, a run scored, and three RBI.

Our View:

Big Tex just keeps hitting, and he is more than a solid fantasy option. As much as Tex owners suffered during the first month of the season, they are celebrating every time he walks to the plate now. Add in the fact that his home field is a launching pad and you should get top numbers from him all season.

June 5, 2009

Friday night's game in New York between the Yankees and the Rays has been postponed due to rain.

Our View:

This means all of your favorite Yankees and Rays players, like Mark Teixeira, will not be playing tonight. Adjust your lineup accordingly if possible.

June 4, 2009

Mark Teixeira led the way for the Yankees' offense on Thursday in their 8-6 win over the Rangers. Teixeira went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored, and three RBI.

Our View:

Big Tex and his ankle looked just fine today, and he has really emerged as one of the elite hitters in baseball for the 2009 season. Much was expected from him this season, and he is now living up to it. Keep riding him, and hope he stays healthy, because if he does the numbers should keep on coming.

June 3, 2009

First basemen Mark Teixeira is not in the Yankees starting lineup Wednesday night due to a bruised ankle according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:

Apparently Teixeira hurt the ankle on his much talked about takeout slide Tuesday night. X-rays were negative and he will be reevaluated tomorrow.

June 3, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 0-for-2 in the Yankees 12-3 rout of the Rangers on Tuesday, but his hard slide to break up a double play in the fourth inning helped lead the Yankees to a seven run inning the AP reports.

Our View:

Teixeira was also hit twice by Rangers pitcher Vicente Padilla and was visibly upset the second time. It was after the second beaning that he slid hard into second, galvanizing the Yankees seven run inning. Teixeira has been on fire of late and should be considered a must play every day.

May 31, 2009

Mark Teixeira pounded another homer on Sunday in the Yankees' 5-4 loss to Cleveland. Teixeira went 2-for-4 with the homer, a double, a run scored, and four RBI in the game.

Our View:

Big Tex has been excellent over the past few weeks, and is living up to the hype after a slow start. He looks to be fully adjusted to New York, so fantasy owners need to keep plugging him into the lineup.

May 25, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, three runs scored, and two RBI as the Yankees defeated the Rangers 11-1 on Monday.

Our View:

We're 25 days into May and the Yankees first baseman has accumulated 24 RBI and 10 home runs. He is hitting .322 in May compared with just .200 in April and he has nine multi-hit games over his last 13. He is now on pace for 49 home runs and 136 RBI.

May 24, 2009

Mark Teixeira was 2-for-5 with a home run in Sunday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Phillies.

Our View:

Teixeira now has 13 homers this season and ten of them have come in May. He is a notorious slow starter, but also an electric second half producer. With him heating up in May fantasy owners could be in store for his best season yet. Plug him into your lineup and reap the rewards.

May 19, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 1-for-3 with a home run, a run scored, and two RBI in the Yankees' 9-1 win over the Orioles on Wednesday. Teixeira now has 11 homers and 30 RBI on the year.

Our View:

Looks like Big Tex is back as well. He and A-Rod in the middle of that lineup is starting to look pretty scary, especially with both of them hitting with power on a regular basis. Tex owners should be very confident in his production for the rest of the year.

May 18, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 with two home runs, four RBI, and two runs scored as the Yankees held on to beat the Twins 7-6 on Monday. The former Gold Glove recipient made a few impressive key plays in the field as well.

Our View:

Teixeira has six hits, three home runs, and eight RBI over his last three games. He now has 10 home runs and 28 RBI on the season, which puts him on pace for 45 and 127, respectively. That sounds about right.

May 17, 2009

Mark Teixeira believes his previously ailing wrist is back to full strength, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View:

The elite first baseman went 4-for-4 with a homer, double and four RBI scored in Saturday's win over Minnesota. He has a four-game hitting streak, with nine hits over the span.

May 16, 2009

Mark Teixeira made his presence felt on Saturday in the Yankees' 6-4 extra innings win over the Twins. Teixeira went 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored, and four RBI in the win.

Our View:

Big Tex has been a big disappointment so far this season, but he gave fantasy owners a small sample today of what he brings to the table. As he gets more comfortable in New York his numbers should improve, but he can't really be much worse. Expect him to be much better going forward, and finally living up to his preseason hype.

May 10, 2009

Mark Teixeira hit his seventh home run of the season as the Yankees won 5-3 in Baltimore on Sunday. He finished the day 1-for-4 and briefly had his batting average over .200. He is currently hitting .198.

Our View:

Tex remains under the Mendoza line, but he has shown some decent power recently. He has hit solo shots in back to back games and has four home runs in his last seven games. The worst should be behind him.

May 6, 2009

Mark Teixeira had two hits and three RBI for the Yankees on Wednesday night even though he popped out in the 10th inning when the he had the chance to tie the game.

Our View:

Teixeira has pushed his average up to .209 meaning we should be pretty happy with his total of 15 RBI in 24 games considering his struggles. Long known as a bit of a slow starter, Tex now has five hits and five RBI in his last three games.

May 2, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 0-for-3 with a walk on Saturday, and he is down to .182 on the season. He has gone 12 games without hitting a homer and owns only one double during that time.

Our View:

Boooo! Oops, sorry, we were just mimicking the Yankee faithful. Fantasy owners need to stat patient with this slugger, and now is a good time to buy low.

April 25, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 0-for-1 with five walks in Saturday's 16-11 loss to the Red Sox. He scored three times in the game.

Our View:

That's one way to stop a six-game hitting streak. Obviously, if your league is counting walks, Teixeira had a beastly day. In most leagues, he'll contribute three runs, which isn't too bad either.

April 18, 2009

Mark Teixeira homered for the second straight game, but it made the most minor of dents in a monster Cleveland lead. The home run was his only hit on the day and the Indians cruised to a 22-4 win.

Our View:

The big man seems to be getting his swing back after a miserable start to the season. He's only hitting .194, but now has three homers and seems more comfortable at the dish. His numbers will be there in the end, it just takes time.

April 17, 2009

Mark Teixeira hit his second home run of the season as the Yankees' downed the Tribe on Friday. Teixeira finished 1-for-3 at the plate with two walks to go with his home run.

Our View:

April 17, 2009

Mark Teixeira feels "ten times better" after receiving a cortisone shot in his left wrist, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View:

Teixeira is expected back in the Yankees lineup, and if he feels as good as he says he should start hitting the ball. He is hitting only .160 to begin his first season in New York, but be patient. He is too good to be this bad all year.

April 16, 2009

Mark Teixeira, who went 0-for-2 and was hit by a pitch before Melky Cabrera pinch hit for him in the seventh inning against Cleveland on Thursday, took a cortisone shot in his left wrist to help relieve the lingering pain, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View:

Teixeira is now 0-for-9 since returning to the Yankees' lineup on Tuesday and it appears he's still at least a bit bothered by the sore left wrist. While the switch-hitter has been frustrating to own thus far, we're still just a week and a half into the season and it'd be best to remain patient with the slugger.

April 14, 2009

Mark Teixeira is back in the middle of the Yankees' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays, according to the St. Petersburg Times. He had been out with an ailing left wrist.

Our View:

It's good for Teixeira owners that he is back so quickly, and the injury does not appear to have been serious. Watch his numbers over the next few games to see how this will affect him at the plate.

April 13, 2009

The Star-Ledger reports that the MRI on Mark Teixeira's ailing left wrist showed no structural damage and he hopes to be back in the starting lineup on Tuesday. He is dealing with tendinitis in the wrist which affects his swing from the right side of the plate.

Our View:

Tendinitis is not something that typically just disappears, but it looks like we should find out soon if the ailment will have any effect on his production.

April 13, 2009

Skipper Joe Girardi does not expect Mark Teixeira to start Monday's game against the Rays, according to the Star-Ledger. Girardi said, "We will have to see because it was the right-handed swing that bothered him more than anything. We will see what he says Monday when we get to the park. Maybe we do not post a lineup until it is late."

Our View:

Teixeira is dealing with left wrist tendinitis, which causes pain when the switch-hitter attempts to swing right-handed. He missed the last two games and is considered day-to-day.

April 12, 2009

Updating an earlier report, Mark Teixeira has been diagnosed with left wrist tendinitis, according to the Journal News. He has sat out the Yankees previous two games against the Royals, but does plan to start on Monday.

Our View:

There's a chance this injury could have a substantial effect on the slugger. He is a switch-hitting, gold glove first baseman and in regards to his powerful $180-million swing, there seem to be few things as important as his wrist.

April 12, 2009

Mark Teixeira is not in today's lineup against the Royals while nursing a sore left wrist, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View:

Nick Swisher will replace Teixeira at first base. Adjust your lineups accordingly.

April 11, 2009

According to Newsday, Mark Teixeira was scratched from Saturday's lineup with a sore wrist. He is considered day-to-day.

Our View:

This just seems like the Yanks are taking precautionary measures and making sure that the injury isn't anything serious. We'll keep you posted, but he should be back in the lineup tomorrow.

April 4, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 2-for-3 with four RBI in Saturday's 10-1 win over the Cubs. Both of his knocks were home runs.

Our View:

He raised his spring average to .433 with five homers and 15 RBI, and should be headed for a strong campaign with the Yankees.

April 1, 2009

Mark Teixeira was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI on Wednesday as the Yanks topped the Phillies 8-5.

Our View:

The power stroke is back. After failing to really drive the ball most of spring training, the Yankess' first baseman now has three bombs and is looking like he's in mid-season form. Typically a slow starter, Teixeira could bust out early this year. He's hitting .444 this spring.

March 30, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 2-for-3 with two RBI, a double, and a walk as the Yankees beat the Blue Jays 3-1 on Monday.

Our View:

Teixeira is hitting .408 this spring, and hopefully he can carry his hot bat into April. He has traditionally been a slow starter, but without Alex Rodriguez in the lineup, the Yankees will count on him to be the difference maker just as he was today.

March 27, 2009

Mark Teixeira was 2-for-3 with an RBI in Friday's 4-1 win over the Reds. He's hitting .364 this spring.

Our View:

The big man's power has yet to arrive this spring, but don't think he won't turn it on when the season starts. You can mark him down for 30+ homers and 100+ RBI right now. We'll vouch for him.

March 21, 2009

Mark Teixeira was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI on Saturday in the Yankees 4-3 win. He is batting .419 this spring.

Our View:

Teixeira will no doubt have a productive fantasy season in the the middle of New York's stacked lineup. He is a potential first rounder. Expect his power to arrive by Opening Day.

March 11, 2009

Mark Teixeira drove in his first run of the spring Wednesday in a 2-for-3 day against the Tigers.

Our View:

The power numbers thus far are a little discouraging, but Teixeira's average is sitting at .529. Don't be too concerned with spring numbers though. The big man should have no problems in his new lineup and continue to rake.

February 28, 2009

Mark Teixeira went 1-for-3 with a double on Saturday in the Yankees' spring game against the Twins.

Our View:

Teixeira was batting third in the order again and it looks like manager Joe Girardi will live up to his word to bat him there, in front of A-Rod.

February 18, 2009

Mark Teixeira could bat third for the Yankees in his first year with the club, according to the team's official site. Alex Rodriguez would bat fourth in this scenario.

Our View:

Teixeira will certainly get some pitches to hit as he and A-Rod are probably the best 3-4 tandem in the majors now that David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez have been broken up in Boston.

January 5, 2009

Mark Teixeira has finalized his eight-year, $180 million deal with the Yankees on Monday, according to the Associated Press. It will be announced at a press conference on Tuesday.

Our View:

Teixeira will certainly add to the Yankees' lineup next year. He will give them a similar home run total with more RBI, a better average, and a gold glove at first base.
