Juan Pierre shined once again with Many Ramirez out of the lineup. He went 2-for-5 and stole two bases in the Dodgers 5-3 win over the Rockies on Sunday.
Pierre now has 30 steals for the year, marking the ninth time he's had at least that many in a season. He also finishes 2009 with a .308 average. Not bad for a guy who supposedly didn't have a job at the beginning of the season.
Juan Pierre sparked the offense for the Dodgers on Saturday in their division-clinching 5-0 win over the Rockies. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Pierre lost most of his fantasy value when Manny Ramirez returned from his 50-game suspension, but he's been invaluable to the Dodgers all season. The RBI was his 31st and the steal was his 28th.
According to the LA Times, Juan Pierre will get one to two starts a week in center field when Manny Ramirez returns to the lineup.
This obviously means Pierre's fantasy value will take a huge hit. The Dodgers were clear that they don't intend to trade him, so it may be time to start shopping for another outfielder.
The Dodgers have no interest in trading outfielder Juan Pierre, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Pierre is due to head back to the bench once Manny Ramirez returns from his 50-game suspension. GM Ned Colletti says the team is interested in acquiring a pitcher, though. He did not specify reliever or starter.
Juan Pierre led the Dodgers offensively in Sunday's 5-3 win at the Angels, as he went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. He hit two doubles and a single, and also swiped a base.
Pierre raised his team-high batting average to .337, and also leads the club with 17 stolen bases. He extended his hitting streak to five games, and has five total hits over his last two.
Juan Pierre went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles in Friday's 6-0 loss at Texas.
The Rangers had eight hits in the game. Pierre collected his third multi-hit game of June, and raised his team-leading average to .351.
Despite his .352 average, good for second in the National League, Dodgers manager Joe Torre said on Tuesday that Juan Pierre will return to the bench when suspended slugger Manny Ramirez returns to the lineup according to the Los Angeles Daily News.
Torre said he envisions Pierre playing about twice a week to spell either Manny, Matt Kemp or Andre Ethier once Ramirez returns. Bad news for Pierre fantasy owners, but likely good news for the Dodgers.
Juan Pierre was 2-for-5 with a double in the Dodgers' 7-2 loss to the Phillies on Sunday.
Pierre has been a godsend for the Dodgers while Manny's been out of the lineup. The speedy leadoff man is the catalyst for the Dodger offense and has his average up to .360. Sunday's outing gave him a four-game hitting streak.
Juan Pierre continued his torrid stretch on Tuesday with a 3-for-5 night that included a triple, two runs scored and a pair of RBI in the Dodgers' 7-1 win over the Rockies.
Pierre is now hitting .394 with 18 RBI and is making life for Dodger fans much more bearable since Manny went out with his suspension. Play him in all formats. He's hot.
Juan Pierre was 2-for-6 with a triple, three RBI, and two runs scored in the Dodgers 16-6 win in Colorado on Monday.
Pierre has been a hitting machine at the top of the Dodgers order. He is 40-for-104 this season and has been a strong pickup in fantasy leagues. He has more stolen bases (9) than strikeouts (7). It remains to be seen what his role will be, and even who his team will be, following the return of Manny Ramirez.
Juan Pierre was 2-for-4 and swiped two bases in Sunday's 10-7 loss to the Angels.
Pierre has been incredible since seeing consistent playing time with Manny Ramirez serving his suspension. The Dodger leadoff man is hitting .388 and has chipped in with 11 RBI and nine steals. He's a fine fantasy fill-in until Ramirez returns.
Juan Pierre went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 12-5 win at Florida. He hit two doubles and a single.
Pierre remains hot as he collected three hits in back-to-back games, and has eight hits and five RBI over his last three games. He is not in the same class as Manny Ramirez, but is doing a fine job while replacing him in the Dodgers' outfield. Pierre is worth scooping up if still dangling on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues.
Juan Pierre went 3-for-5 with a triple and three runs scored in the Dodgers' 5-3 loss to the Marlins on Saturday.
Pierre has performed admirably since taking over for the suspended Manny Ramirez, and he continued his solid play today. Pierre is always a threat to steal bases and score runs, so he could be useful in all leagues until Manny returns.
Juan Pierre went 3-for-5 for the second straight game as the Dodgers lost to the Giants 7-5 on Sunday. He scored three times, hit a double, stole a base, and drew a walk in the game.
Since replacing Manny Ramirez in the starting lineup, Pierre is 9-for-16 with four RBI, four runs scored, and two stolen bases. Count yourself lucky if you were the first to get to him in your league.
Juan Pierre was 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored in the Dodgers' 8-0 win over the Giants on Saturday.
The only person in LA who doesn't miss Manny is Juan Pierre. He'll see increased playing time with Manny out for 50 games due to his steroid suspension and it looks like he's already making the most of it. His fantasy stock arrow is now pointing up.
Juan Pierre will likely see more action in the Dodgers' outfield with Manny Ramirez facing a 50-game suspension for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
Pierre's fantasy stock rises following this development, as he was hitting .355 over 31 at-bats this season. Pierre is worth acquiring if you need help or depth in your roto-outfield.
MLB.com reports that Juan Pierre is batting ninth in Wednesday's game. Manager Joe Torre wants to utilize his speed in front of Rafael Furcal.
The move also allows three position players to hit in front of Manny Ramirez. Pierre has only registered 16 at bats this season, and if he ever found regular work, he would be a fantasy factor.
According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Juan Pierre will get his first start of the season on Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
Pierre's season debut means that one of LA's starting outfielders will sit. Joe Torre has said that Manny will be in the lineup, so that means Andre Ethier or Matt Kemp will be the odd man out.
Juan Pierre was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and two stolen bases as the Dodgers defeated the Brewers 7-3 on Saturday.
Pierre looks like he will once again be the fourth outfielder in Los Angeles this season. Most places, he would probably have a starting job. His speed continues to make him a fantasy factor as he recorded 40 stolen bases in 2008 with just 375 at-bats.
Juan Pierre went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and a stolen base against Seattle on Saturday.
Not a bad response since apparently being put on the trading block following the Dodgers' re-signing of Manny Ramirez, bumping Pierre out of an everyday role. He'd still have plenty of value as one of the game's premier base-stealers if he can land an everyday gig somewhere else.
According to MLB.com the addition of Manny Ramirez has once again landed Juan Pierre on the trading block. Pierre is aging and is still owed over $28 million, so it may be difficult to find an interested party.
Pierre, hitless this spring, is still valuable for stolen bases, but would be a more promising player with a trade to a team where he can start consistently.
Juan Pierre went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Wednesday's Cactus League game for the Dodgers.
Pierre is hitless so far this spring. The bright side of this fact for Dodgers fans is that the role of Juan Pierre will be played by Manny Ramirez starting next week.
MLB.com points out that even though Juan Pierre is penciled in as the team's starting leftfielder, he fully understands that he will be the team's fourth outfielder if Manny Ramirez is re-signed. But he's not very happy about it. "Last year, it seemed the organization was going in another way, it wanted more power and I kind of feel I'm in the way a little," he said. "It's a tough spot for both sides. I think [a trade] would have helped both sides. It would have made sense. But I know the market changed last year. Other teams might not want me. Just be straight with me and I'm cool..I know the whole Manny situation. I'm a fan of baseball. It's a tough spot. For the betterment of the team last year I kept my mouth shut. The team was winning. Whatever they needed me to do, I did it. I really don't want that role again."
We would like to see Pierre get an everyday opportunity somewhere, but his three-year, $28 million contract is very difficult to move. In the unlikely event that Ramirez signs elsewhere, Pierre's value in 5x5 leagues would skyrocket.
