Newsbreakers

June 20, 2009

Michael Young went 1-for-5 with a solo homer off Randy Johnson in Friday's 6-4 loss at San Francisco.

Our View:

Young is riding a seven-game hitting streak, and homered in each of his last two. He now has 10 homers and continues to lead Texas with a .321 batting average.

June 6, 2009

Michael Young got two hits on Saturday in the Rangers' 8-1 loss to the Red Sox. Young went 2-for-4 with a double in the game.

Our View:

Not a huge night for Young, but as good as Jon Lester was tonight it was a huge feat to get two hits. He was the only Ranger to get a hit off Lester, which shows how good Young is and how good Lester was tonight.

May 24, 2009

Michael Young is back in the Rangers' lineup on Sunday. Young missed Saturday's game with an ankle sprain.

Our View:

Young was thought to be out today, but it appears as if his ankle is good to go. Get him back in your lineup today, and expect him to stay in the lineup unless he hurts himself again.

May 23, 2009

X-rays on Michael Young's ankle came back negative, according to MLB.com.

Our View:

Young sat out Saturday's game and remains day-to-day and could be back as early as tomorrow, so this comes as good news to Young owners who should not have any fear about using shortstop-eligible third baseman in their lineup for next week.

May 23, 2009

Updating an earlier report, Michael Young has been ruled out for Saturday's game at Houston after testing his injured right ankle, according to the Star-Telegram.

Our View:

Young was not able to run well enough to play, and the Rangers could not use a DH at Minute Maid Park. Hank Blalock will start at third base in Young's place.
