MLB.com reports that the Phillies have signed infielder Andy Tracy to a minor league contest.
Assuming Tracy makes the team out of spring training, he would provide depth off the bench for the defending NL Champs. He won't hold any fantasy value.
Todd Zolecki reports via Twitter that the Phillies have purchased the contract of infielder Andy Tracy from Triple-A.
Rodrigo Lopez was released so that the Phillies could add Tracy to the 40-man roster. He will provided infield depth off the bench and be used in a utility role for the remainder of the regular season.
Andy Tracy hit his first homerun of the spring Thursday in a 3-2 loss to the Rays. It was his only at-bat of the game.
If Tracy makes the Phillies roster to start the season he'll be a utility infielder and will hold no real fantasy value.
