Newsbreakers

August 26, 2009

Pressed into emergency starting duty, Josh Fogg was awful on Wednesday night, allowing six runs and three home runs in just three innings, as the Rockies lost a big to the Dodgers 6-1 at home.

Our View:

Hard to blame Fogg for this one. In 20 relief appearances spanning 40 innings coming into tonight, he had a sterling 2.25 ERA. Expect the team to get him back into the bullpen as quickly as possible.

August 24, 2009

Josh Fogg has been named the Rockies' starter for their game Wednesday against the Dodgers, according to the Denver Post. Fogg will take the place of injured starter Aaron Cook.

Our View:

The Dragon Slayer will get another opportunity to help the Rockies make a playoff run, just like he did in the magical 2007 season. Fogg isn't the pitcher now that he was then, and he is not worth a look, at least for this start, in any fantasy format.

May 25, 2009

Josh Fogg has been recalled by the Rockies from Triple-A Colorado Springs, according to the Sports Network. The club designated pitcher Matt Belisle for assignment as the adjoining move.

Our View:

The 32-year-old vet holds a career 5.08 ERA in the majors, and is only worth a look for deeper NL-only leagues.

March 13, 2009

Josh Fogg pitched two scoreless innings Friday against the Giants. He allowed one hit.

Our View:

Fogg's presence in the back end of the Rockies' rotation will be key this season, as it will solidify the roles of the other four members, who also will be trying to compensate for the loss of Jeff Francis.

January 30, 2009

Josh Fogg signed a minor league deal with the Rockies on Friday, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:

Fogg will compete for a spot in Colorado's rotation. He had two of his better years in Denver, going 21-18 with a 5.27 ERA in 61 starts. Those numbers aren't great, but he's only recorded more wins in a two-year span once, with 22 between the 2002 and 2003 seasons with the Pirates, so he could be serviceable for them. However, he's unlikely to have any fantasy value with 12 being his career high in wins.

January 30, 2009

Josh Fogg is leaning toward returning to Colorado, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:

Fogg would likely be given a minor league deal, with a chance to compete for a rotation spot in spring training. The club has passed on Braden Looper as he is out of their price range.

January 22, 2009

Josh Fogg is considering rejoining the Rockies, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:

He is waiting to see if he gets a better deal, as he would have significant competition for a role in the Rockies' rotation.

January 8, 2009

Josh Fogg would like to return to the Rockies, and it appears that the club might also be interested in bringing back their former hurler, according to the Rockies Official Website.

Our View:

Reportedly there are five teams interested in Fogg, surprising activity given that he posted a 7.58 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP in 78.1 innings last season.
