Dealing with a case of elbow tendinitis, Doug Davis has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Tom Haudricourt.
After previously being stricken with a case of pericarditis, Davis has made just one start since May 9. Needless to say, his signing was one of last offseason's most disastrous. He's not a must-stash in NL-only leagues.
Doug Davis will return to the Brewers lineup on Friday, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Davis has been out since May with inflammation in the lining of his heart. The move gives Yovani Gallardo an extra day of rest and gives Davis over a week between starts. He last pitched on Wednesday for Class A Wisconsin.
Doug Davis (pericarditis) will come off of the disabled list next week, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
He will face the Giants. Brewers manager Ken Macha has not yet said whom he will replace in the rotation, though Manny Parra or Chris Narveson are both decent bets.
In what was likely his final rehab start, Doug Davis tossed five scoreless innings on Thursday while striking out nine. The Journal-Sentinel indicates that Chris Narveson is the likely odd man out of the Brewers rotation.
Davis got off to a rough start in his first seven starts of the season, but you have to like the stat line from Thursday. He currently holds minuscule value in NL-Only leagues but is worth keeping an eye on moving forward.
Doug Davis (pericarditis) allowed three hits and one run in three innings of work for Triple-A Nashville on Saturday, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
He struck out three and walked one. In true Davis fashion, of his 59 pitches, 39 were strikes. Expect him to make one or two more rehab starts before rejoining the Brews.
MLBlogs.com reports that Doug Davis (pericarditis) had a recurrence of chest pain on Monday night.
Davis had a successful week of rest and light workouts and then this bomb was dropped on him. He now believes that he'll need more than the minimum 15 days on the DL to recover. This is bad news for Davis and his family and his return will be wrought with uncertainty until his condition is stabilized. Stay tuned.
Doug Davis has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Scarily, he is dealing with a case of pericarditis, which is "an inflammation of the lining around the heart."
The condition is treatable, however, and he is not expected to be on the DL any longer than the necessary 15 days. Expect the Brewers to call someone up to take his place on the roster tonight or tomorrow morning.
Doug Davis has been scratched from his scheduled start against the Phillies tonight, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.
Davis was scratched for undisclosed medical reasons, so it's tough to know at this point whether he'll be able to make his start next week, not that he should be considered by fantasy owners either way. Dave Bush will start in Davis' place tonight.
Doug Davis turned in yet another pathetic effort against the Braves on Monday evening, walking six batters and allowing six runs (three earned) in 5.2 innings of work.
Davis has now issued 18 free passes in just 33.1 innings of work this season, a big reason behind his eye-popping 1.98 WHIP. He is 1-4 with a 7.56 ERA through seven starts.
It was more of the same from a struggling Doug Davis on Wednesday night, as he allowed seven hits, three runs and two walks in 5.1 innings of work against the Dodgers. However, his lousy night didn't prevent him from earning his first victory of the season in Milwaukee's 11-3 win.
Technically, it was one of Davis' better outings of the season. Realistically, it "improved" his WHIP to 2.06 and ERA to 8.13. For the time being, he is unownable.
Doug Davis got rocked yet again on Thursday night, allowing eight hits and six runs (five earned) in just four innings of work against the Padres. He struck out five in Milwaukee's 9-0 loss.
Through 22.1 innings pitched this season, he is now the owner of an unconscionable 8.87 ERA and 2.15 WHIP. Being a veteran, he has some rope, but Milwaukee can't go on like this. One or two more bad starts, and he could be out of a job. Stay tuned.
Doug Davis finally had a good start on Saturday night, limiting the Cubs to just two runs in 6.1 innings of work, but got outdueled by Ted Lilly, as Chicago won 5-1. He struck out six while walking just two.
Despite his solid night, he is still the owner of an ugly 8.35 ERA and 2.07 WHIP. He's not worth the headache in mixed leagues.
Doug Davis was roughed up for six earned runs on seven hits over a mere 3.1 innings of work in Monday's 9-5 loss at Chicago. He had two walks and four strikeouts, and gave up two homers.
Wrigley Field is not welcoming to pitchers, and Davis fared even worse today after giving up four runs in his season debut against the Rockies. The 34-year-old hurler appears to have little left in the tank, and his fantasy appeal is limited to deeper NL-only leagues.
Doug Davis was not sharp against Colorado on Wednesday, allowing four runs off six hits and three walks with four strikeouts over four innings.
Davis avoided the loss as the Brewers came back, but he didn't do anything to shake the perception that he's a mediocre pitcher at this point in his career.
Doug Davis was mediocre on Friday, allowing a pair of runs on three hits and two walks over four innings. He fanned four Tigers in the game and earned his second spring win.
Davis holds an unimpressive 5.23 ERA this spring, but the veteran lefty is guaranteed a spot in the Brewers' somewhat depressing rotation. He's managed to fan 19 in 24.2 innings, but has also handed out 12 free passes. Walks will continue to be the bane of his existence if he doesn't figure out a solution.
Doug Davis was impressive on Wednesday, scattering three hits and a walk over four scoreless innings and striking out three.
Davis now has a stellar 1.29 ERA over his two spring starts and has struck out five over his seven innings. He will provide depth and stability in the Brewers' questionable rotation this season, but won't be much of a fantasy option outside of deep NL-only leagues.
Doug Davis has officially signed a one-year deal with the Brewers worth $4.25MM, according to the Sports Network. The contract includes a mutual option for 2011.
Milwaukee praised his durability, and also the fact that he puts in quality starts, hence giving the club a chance to win every time he takes the hill. The 34-year-old vet previously pitched with the Brewers from 2003-06, and decided to return as he wants a chance to pitch in the postseason.
After days of speculation, the Brewers signed lefty Doug Davis to a one-year, $4.25 million deal on Wednesday, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The deal includes a $6.5 million option for 2011.
Davis pitched in Milwaukee from 2003-2006, so the two parties are not unfamiliar with each other. In 2004 and 2005, he posted the only sub-4.00 ERAs and sub-1.40 WHIPs of his career, so this should be a good move for his fantasy value, too. That being said, he is nothing more than a roster filler in most average sized mixed leagues.
The Brewers are still talking to Doug Davis, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
The club still has Mark Mulder on their radar as well. Davis held a 4.12 ERA over 34 starts with Arizona in 2009, and the 34-year-old vet could be a nice fit for the back of Milwaukee's rotation if signed.
Free agent lefty Doug Davis is currently drawing interest from four teams, according to Fox Sports.
Davis has been a seemingly forgotten commodity this offseason, likely due to his 1.50 WHIP from last season. While he has never been confused with being an elite pitcher, he would still be a solid addition to the back-end of many teams' rotations. The Twins, Brewers, Mets and Nationals are all believed to be interested in his services.
