Jody Gerut led the way for the Brewers on Sunday as Milwaukee shut out the Astros 6-0. Gerut went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer, a run scored, and two RBI.
Gerut has been playing well over the last week or so, and he is taking advantage of some regular playing time. He is more of a utility player tha anything, and he doesn't figure to have much of a fantasy presence next season.
Jody Gerut's fourth inning grand-slam off of Randy Wells on Thursday gave him his first four-RBI game since June 30, 2008, and led the Brewers to a 7-4 victory at Wrigley Field.
Gerut now has seven home runs and 29 RBI in 71 games this season. At nearly age 32 and with a .217 average, however, he likely doesn't figure into the Brewers' 2010 plans.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Jody Gerut will get the start in centerfield for Saturday's match-up with the Tigers.
Mike Cameron is serving a one-game suspension, which is the only reason Gerut is in the lineup. He has failed to impress since being traded to the Brewers in late May, and holds no fantasy value.
Jody Gerut continues to struggle since being dealt to the Brewers from San Diego in late May, and is now just 3-for-22 since the trade after going 1-for-4 in the Brewers 5-4 loss to the Rockies on Thursday.
Put simply, Gerut has no value in any format.
Jody Gerut has reportedly been dealt from San Diego to Milwaukee in exchange for Tony Gwynn Jr., according to 619Sports.net.
Gerut's power could improve while leaving Petco Park for Miller Park. He will be playing in a much stronger lineup as well. He was only hitting .221 with four homers with San Diego.
Jody Gerut hit a home run as the first official batter at the new Citi Field in New York. He finished the night 2-for-4 with two runs, an RBI, and a walk in the win.
It was obviously a historical night for Gerut, but his season has been rather ho-hum to start. Despite the fact the Padres are 6-2, he is not having a strong start as their leadoff hitter.
Jody Gerut went 2-for-4 from the leadoff position in Sunday's 12-7 loss to Arizona. He hit his second home run of the spring on his way to two RBI and two runs scored.
The lefty had a nice comeback season a year ago, but at 31 it's unlikely to get much better. He platooned with Scott Hairston in centerfield as he has never hit southpaws well, and he could likely see the same role this season.
Jody Gerut homered for the Padres on Tuesday. The two-run shot was his first of the spring.
Gerut showed some real pop last year in a limited role, but would most likely see his power numbers drop in Petco Park. Still, he could be a decent home run option in NL-only leagues.
