November 13, 2009

MLive.com reports that the Tigers have contacted Aubrey Huff to inform him that they will not re-sign the free agent outfielder.

Our View:

This is no big shocker as the Tigers are trying to shed payroll and Huff was brutal at the plate after coming over in a trade from Baltimore. In 40 games the former Oriole hit just .189 with a pair of homers and 13 RBI for his new club. Someone looking for outfield power will likely come calling though.

August 17, 2009

According to MLB.com's Jason Beck, the Tigers have acquired Aubrey Huff from the Orioles for pitching prospect Brett Jacobson.

Our View:

This is a great move for Detroit, who is giving up only a rookie league pitching prospect for a player that could play third base, the outfield or DH for them. He is having a slightly down season, batting just .253 with 13 home runs, but should still help Detroit's sputtering offense nonetheless.

August 12, 2009

Aubrey Huff went deep for the 13th time on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough as the Orioles fell to the A's by a score of 6-3. Huff went 1-for-4 with the homer, a run scored, and two RBI.

Our View:

Huff has been a pretty big disappointment this season, and his average is currently sitting at .254. He does, however, have 70 RBI, which is a pretty solid number for this point in the season. If you can sacrifice average and need an RBI boost, he might not be a terrible pickup at this point.

July 30, 2009

Aubrey Huff had his first three-RBI game since July 3 on Thursday, helping the Orioles batter the Royals and Luke Hochevar 7-3.

Our View:

Huff is still batting just .250, but has a decent shot at his second straight 100 RBI season.

July 4, 2009

Aubrey Huff was 2-for-4 with a three run homer in the Orioles' 6-4 win over the Angels on Friday.

Our View:

Huff broke out of a 2-for-17 skid with a big night on Friday. He now has 11 homers and 55 RBI on the season and would be a fine fantasy performer if he wasn't stuck at a loaded position (first base).

June 27, 2009

Aubrey Huff went 2-for-4 with his 10th home run of the year on Saturday.

Our View:

Don't expect Huff to approach last season's numbers when he hit 30 home runs and hit over .300, but he remains a fine major league hitter and fantasy option at either corner infield spot.

June 18, 2009

Aubrey Huff led the Orioles in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Mets at Camden Yards, as he went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. He hit a double and two singles.

Our View:

Huff extended his hitting streak to six games, with 10 hits and six RBI over the span. Keep Huff active in fantasy lineups while he is swinging a hot stick.

June 17, 2009

Aubrey Huff was 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, a walk, and a run scored in Baltimore's 6-4 win over the Mets on Wednesday.

Our View:

Huff has not hit a home run since May 26, a span of 16 games. He also had just three RBI in that stretch, but Huff is a good enough producer that his average has only dropped eight points. Nick Markakis is showing signs of heating up, and hopefully it's contagious.

June 12, 2009

Aubrey Huff went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in Friday's 7-2 loss to the Braves at Camden Yards.

Our View:

Huff has a hit in three of his last four games, and ended a six-game skid without an RBI. He now co-leads the Orioles (with Nick Markakis) with 40 RBI.

June 1, 2009

Aubrey Huff recorded the Orioles' lone RBI in Monday's 1-0 win at Seattle. He went 0-for-3, and the score came on a sacrifice fly.

Our View:

He ended a five-game skid without an RBI, and now has 39 for the season. He is only one RBI behind Nick Markakis for the club lead with 40.

May 25, 2009

Aubrey Huff went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in Monday's 4-1 win over Toronto at Camden Yards.

Our View:

Huff has quietly recorded an RBI in three straight games, and has 37 RBI over 45 games for the season. He has topped 100 RBI three times in his career.

May 23, 2009

Aubrey Huff is out of Saturday's lineup at Washington, according to MASN Sports.

Our View:

Huff is riding the pine as he only has one hit over his last 18 at-bats. Ty Wigginton, who used to play in the NL with the Astros, will replace him at first with Nolan Reimold roaming in left field.

May 7, 2009

Aubrey Huff was 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks, two RBI, and two runs scored in Baltimore's 5-4 win over the Twins.

Our View:

Huff has yet to go on any kind of tear this season, but he has been a steady bat and produced 25 RBI. His 108 RBI from a season ago certainly appears within reach.

April 24, 2009

Aubrey Huff went 2-for-4 on Friday, but the Orioles lost to the Rangers 5-4. Huff had a double, a run scored, and two RBI in a losing effort.

Our View:

Huff bumped his average up to .303 on the year, and he continues being an RBI machine. He is now up to 17 RBI on the season, and he should be owned and probably starting in all leagues.

April 21, 2009

Aubrey Huff went 4-for-4 with two home runs, four RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Baltimore's 10-3 win over the White Sox.

Our View:

Huff has continued his strong production from 2008 into 2009. He already has 15 RBI through 14 games played and boasts a 1:1 K:BB ratio.

April 13, 2009

Aubrey Huff went 4-for-5 as the Orioles held off the Rangers for a 10-9 win on Monday. The first baseman had a double to go with his three RBI.

Our View:

Huff will have plenty of RBI opportunities hitting cleanup for Baltimore this season. If he swings as well as he did last season he could surpass his 108 RBI from 2008.

March 6, 2009

Aubrey Huff drove in a pair of runs in his only at-bat Friday in Baltimore's 6-2 win over Washington.

Our View:

Huff enjoyed perhaps the finest season of his career in 2008 as he a solid line of .304-32-108-96-4 while setting a career-high with 48 doubles. Given that he qualifies at 1B (24 games) and 3B (33) this season, he has substantial value.

February 28, 2009

Aubrey Huff was 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double against the Marlins on Saturday.

Our View:

Huff is looking to build on his best year since 2003 after he clubbed 32 home runs, 108 RBI, and batted .304 in 2008 with the Orioles.

January 19, 2009

Aubrey Huff could roam first base for the Orioles if they do not add a free agent such as Richie Sexson, Adam Dunn or Ty Wigginton, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View:

If so, Luke Scott could serve in the DH role, with the newly acquired Felix Pie an option for left field.
