A.J. Pierzynski went 2-for-4 while driving in the lone White Sox run on Sunday, as Chicago lost 2-1 to Kansas City at home.

Our View:

Pierzynski has had another solid under-the-radar season for a fantasy catcher in 2009, batting .309 with 13 home runs and 48 RBI in 131 games.

September 16, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 6-3 win at Seattle. All three of his knocks were singles.

Our View:

Pierzynski raised his team-leading batting average to .315, and was in need of a solid performance, as he was only 2-for-10 over his previous three games.

September 9, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski's 13th inning double ended a marathon on Wednesday. The catcher's second hit in five at-bats plated Alexei Ramirez, giving the White Sox a 4-3 victory at home.

Our View:

Pierzyski also walked twice in the game, and is now batting .314 with 43 RBI on the season.

August 31, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski went 2-for-3, and recorded Chicago's lone RBI in tonight's 4-1 loss at Minnesota.

Our View:

Pierzynski raised his team-leading batting average to .315, and hit .330 this month. He should remain a consistent perfomer down the stretch.

August 17, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in tonight's 8-7 win over the Royals at U.S. Cellular Field. He hit a single and a two-run homer off Brian Bannister.

Our View:

He raised his team-leading batting average to .314, and recorded his 13th homer, tying his season total of 2008. He should remain a solid fantasy catcher while fighting to keep the Sox in playoff contention.

August 14, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski is out of Chicago's lineup for tonight's game at Oakland, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

He is not injured, and skipper Ozzie Guillen is just holding him out against opposing lefty Brett Anderson. Ramon Castro will start at catcher in his place.

July 25, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski went 4-for-5 with a home run in the White Sox's 4-3, ten-inning loss to the Tigers on Saturday.

Our View:

A.J. continues to be one of the better hitter catchers in the AL. He has his average up to .309 and the mouthy backstop is hitting .364 this month.

July 10, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski was productive in tonight's 6-4 loss at Minnesota as he went 3-for-4 with a run scored. He had two doubles and a single.

Our View:

He raised his batting average to .310, and has a hit in four straight games. He enjoyed a solid outing against his former club, as he played in Minnesota from 1998-2003.

July 3, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski was 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the White Sox 5-0 win over the Royals on Saturday.

Our View:

The catcher is now hitting .300 on the season with nine homers and 25 RBI. You could do much worse than Pierzynski as your fantasy catcher.

June 26, 2009

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that White Sox' catcher A.J. Pierzynski is not in the team's lineup for their series-opener against the cross-town rival Cubs. He will be replaced behind the plate by Ramon Castro.

Our View:

Pierzynski is having a pretty nice season offensively for the Sox, and his fantasy value as a catcher is fairly solid. Owners should get him out if possible today, but he will be good to go for the rest of the weekend.

June 25, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski helped lead the Sox in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Dodgers at U.S. Cellular Field, as he went 2-for-6 with three RBI and a run scored. He hit a single and a three-run homer off Chad Billingsley.

Our View:

He is enjoying a good month, as he is hitting .271 with four homers and 10 RBI over 70 at-bats. He shall remain employed in fantasy lineups. Scott Podsednik hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 13th inning to pull out the win.

June 12, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 7-2 loss at Milwaukee. He hit a single and a double.

Our View:

He has a three-game hitting streak, with one homer and two RBI over the span. Keep him active in fantasy lineups while he is hot.

June 7, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski is out of Sunday's lineup against Cleveland, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

He is being held out against opposing lefty David Huff. Ramon Castro will work behind the plate.

June 5, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski was a lone bright spot for the Sox in Friday's 6-0 loss to the Indians at U.S. Cellular Field, as he went 2-for-3 with a single and a double.

Our View:

The Sox only mustered three hits in the loss. Pierzynski hit .333 in May, and remains hot in June as he is hitting 5-for-14 (.357) so far over four games.

May 17, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski will ride the pine in Sunday's game at Toronto, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

The Sox are playing a day game while coming off a night game, which is why Pierzynski is sitting out. Corky Miller will replace him behind the plate.

May 3, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's 9-6 loss at Texas. His other hit was a single.

Our View:

Pierzynski is hot as he racked up six hits (two homers) over his last three games. He raised his batting average to .268.

April 29, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski was 3-for-4 with a home run, an RBI, and two runs scored as the White Sox beat the Mariners 6-3 on Wednesday.

Our View:

Pierzynski is currently hitting .254 which would be his lowest batting average in any of his 12 seasons. The 32-year-old should continue to raise his average going forward.

April 28, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski is not in the lineup for the first game of tonight's doubleheader against Seattle at U.S. Cellular Field, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

Corky Miller is starting at catcher in his place. Pierzynski may start the second game.

April 19, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski hit his first home run of the season while going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in Chicago's 12-2 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Our View:

Pierzynski remains a decent option at catcher as he plays more than most and usually hits for decent average. However, he had no RBI and just one run scored prior to today's game.

April 1, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski had two hits in four trips to the plate on Wednesday. He added an RBI as well, driving in the White Sox lone run.

Our View:

A.J. was dropped down to the seven spot in the lineup, but continued to produce regardless. He's not a huge fantasy player, but is a serviceable option at catcher once the top-tier guys have been snatched up.

March 17, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski kept on rolling Tuesday with a 2-for-4 effort against the Diamondbacks. He also scored two runs and raised his average to a scorching .467.

Our View:

Pierzynski continues to produce in the two-hole and is having a great spring at the dish. He has solid value as a fantasy backstop after the top tier options have dried up. His move up in the order should significantly bump his runs scored as well.

March 15, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored as the White Sox pummeled the Mariners 15-5 on Sunday.

Our View:

Batting in the No. 2 hole has been good to A.J. this spring as he is carrying a .462 average in 26 at-bats. He is one of the most consistent options behind the plate and he draws plenty of starts, but he cannot seem to take a walk for anything. Perhaps that will change with his new role, but it seems unlikely. He won't hit for much power, but he should see a steep increase in runs scored do to the bump up the lineup.

February 28, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski went 1-for-3 for the White Sox on Saturday in a 13-0 loss to their crosstown rivals.

Our View:

Pierzynski isn't a top of the line catcher offensively, but he could be useful in deeper fantasy leagues in 2009.

February 25, 2009

As expected, catcher A.J. Pierzynski hit No. 2 in the White Sox order against the Angels on Wednesday. He finished 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Our View:

Pierzynski set career-highs in at-bats and runs last season. At 32, he is not showing any signs of slowing down. He hit .284 from the No. 2 spot last season, and he is among the safer selections at the position.

February 1, 2009

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen has no problem with catcher A.J. Pierzynski batting in the No. 2 slot in his lineup, reports the Chicago Tribune. "I don't mind him batting second," Guillen said. " A.J. did a good job there last year."

Our View:

After being moved up in the order last May, Pierzynski batted .284. Guillen stated he has options behind Pierzynski, but he wants to see who fulfills the leadoff spot before he makes a decision on the two hole.

January 26, 2009

A.J. Pierzynski is hoping to play in the World Baseball Classic, according to the Chicago Tribune. Pierzynski is one of four catchers on the provisional 45-player roster for the United States, with the others being the Braves' Brian McCann, the Mets' Brian Schneider, and the Rockies' Chris Iannetta.

Our View:

Each country is required to carry at least two catchers, so he has a decent chance of making the club. McCann is the biggest offensive threat at the position, so he makes sense if he's interested, but Pierzynski would give the team a stronger defensive presence with some decent offense as well.
