The Cubs have added veteran reliever Bob Howry to their bullpen, according to MLB.com. The 36-year-old had a 10.36 ERA through 14.1 innings this season with Arizona and was placed on waivers earlier this week.
Howry has had success with the Cubs in the past, but we severely doubt he will be able to provide any fantasy value in 2010, even in deep NL-Only leagues.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs are interested in acquiring recently released reliever Bob Howry.
Howry was the Cubs former setup man, so he would be heading back to familiar territory if the deal comes to fruition. He has been miserable this season, holding a 10.67 ERA over 14 appearances before being let go by the D-backs this week, but the Cubs' bullpen is in shambles and they could use an arm of any kind. Perhaps Howry would find his old form if he headed back to Wrigley.
Bob Howry has been released by the Diamondbacks, according to the Arizona Republic.
This shouldn't come as a surprise, as he's posted a 10.67 ERA over 14.1 innings this season and has given up six home runs. Arizona acquired Saul Rivera to fill Howry's spot in the bullpen.
