Michael Cuddyer has been named the AL Player of the Week, according to the Sports Network. Cuddyer earned the honor by hitting .292 (7-for-24) with four home runs, 11 RBI and an .875 slugging percentage last week.

Our View:

That marked the first weekly honor by the 30-year-old vet. He is doing a great job while helping the Twins compensate for the loss of elite slugger Justin Morneau.

September 18, 2009

Michael Cuddyer led the Twins offensively in tonight's 3-0 win over the rival Tigers at the Metrodome, as he went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer off Rick Porcello.

September 16, 2009

Michael Cuddyer had a huge day at the dish for the Twins on Wednesday in his team's 7-3 win over the Indians. Cuddyer went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer, two runs scored, and three RBI.

Our View:

Cuddyer just continues to put up solid numbers, and the team really needs him with Justin Morneau out for the season. Expect Cuddyer to play quite a bit of first base the rest of the way, and he should continue to to build on his 26 homers and 78 RBI.

September 14, 2009

Michael Cuddyer went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored in tonight's 6-3 win over Cleveland at the Metrodome. He had a double and a three-run homer off Chris Perez.

Our View:

Cuddyer crushed his 25th homer of 2009 while making a start in place of Justin Morneau (stress fracture) at first base. The Twins will have to lean on Cuddyer more as a power source with Morneau done for 2009 as well.

August 9, 2009

The Twins wasted Michael Cuddyer's big day on Sunday. The Twinkies fell 8-7 in Detroit as their right fielder went 4-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI.

August 6, 2009

Michael Cuddyer got back into the outfield on Thursday, and perhaps it sparked him at the plate. He went 2-for-3 with a double, walk, stolen base and run scored in the Twins' 2-1 loss to the Indians.

Our View:

Cuddyer has been dealing with a strained lower back, but it looks like he's shaken off any ill effects. Look for him to see consistent playing time from here on out.

August 5, 2009

Michael Cuddyer is back in the Twins' lineup for tonight's game at Cleveland, according to the Star Tribune. He missed a few games while dealing with a strained lower back.

Our View:

He was deemed fit to return, and will serve in the DH role. He should be fine to pencil into fantasy lineups.

August 4, 2009

Michael Cuddyer will remain out of the Twins' lineup for tonight's game at Cleveland while recovering from a strained lower back, according to the Star Tribune. He will be missing his third straight game.

Our View:

Cuddyer fared fine during batting practice and while running the bases, but apparently the Twins want to give him another day of rest as a precaution. Delmon Young will start in right field in his place.

August 3, 2009

Michael Cuddyer reported that his back was feeling better on Sunday, and he hopes to return to the lineup Tuesday after Monday's off day, according to MLB.com. Cuddyer has been out since Friday while dealing with a back injury.

Our View:

Cuddyer sounds like he is feeling pretty good, and with Monday's off day it looks like he will be back Tuesday. Check back tomorrow for an update on his condition, but if you are relying on him you should feel pretty safe that he will be ready to go.

August 1, 2009

Michael Cuddyer is out of the lineup on Saturday night due to a strained lower back, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Delmon Young is starting in his place.

Our View:

Cuddyer tweaked his back on Friday night, so this news isn't surprising. He is day-to-day.

August 1, 2009

Michael Cuddyer left Friday's game in the 11th inning due to tightness in his lower back. "I'll be fine," he informs MLB.com. He is day-to-day.

Our View:

Fantasy owners with daily transactions will want to check the lineups before using Cuddyer on Saturday night. Delmon Young could get a start if he is out.

July 27, 2009

Michael Cuddyer hit a two-run shot against the White Sox on Monday, his 17th homer of the year.

Our View:

Cuddyer continues to mash from the middle of Minnesota's lineup and should be an unspectacular yet steady offensive fantasy option going forward.

July 18, 2009

Michael Cuddyer led the Twins offensively in tonight's 4-1 win at Texas, as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. He hit a double and a solo homer off Scott Feldman.

Our View:

Cuddyer has a hit in five of his last six games, and launched his 15th homer of the season tonight. He should remain a solid fantasy outfielder, namely in the power department.

July 7, 2009

Michael Cuddyer went 1-for-4 with a solo homer off CC Sabathia in tonight's 10-2 loss to the Yankees at the Metrodome.

Our View:

Cuddyer hit a homer in three of his five games this month, and has 14 for the season. He should remain a solid source for power among fantasy outfielders.

June 27, 2009

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Michael Cuddyer has been taking grounders at second base and could get a start there as soon as this weekend.

Our View:

With Nick Punto out this gives the Twins more options, and if Cuddyer racks up enough games to qualify at second his fantasy value instantly skyrockets. Cuddyer has 60 career games played at second, so he could fill in admirably there.

June 21, 2009

Michael Cuddyer went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and recorded the Twins' lone RBI in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Astros at the Metrodome.

Our View:

Minnesota only mustered two hits in the game. Cuddyer has two homers over his last four games, with three RBI over the span. Keep him active in fantasy lineups while he is hitting well.

June 18, 2009

Michael Cuddyer led the way for the Twins in their Thursday afternoon victory over the Pirates. Cuddyer went 2-for-4 with a triple, a home run, a run scored, and an RBI in the game.

Our View:

Cuddyer has shown the ability to produce at the plate, and he should be able to contribute in most fantasy formats. He won't be anyone's top player, but he is hitting .277 with ten homers and 35 RBI, which is plenty respectable.

June 16, 2009

Michael Cuddyer is back in the Twins' starting lineup for tonight's home game against Pittsburgh, according to the Star Tribune. He has been dealing with inflammation in his right index finger.

Our View:

This is good news, and Cuddyer is worth penciling back into fantasy lineups if he is a regular contributor to your club. He is hitting .262 with nine dingers and 34 RBI.

June 15, 2009

Michael Cuddyer missed the final two games of the Twins series with the Cubs due to an inflamed right index finger. The Star-Tribune reports that he visited a doctor on Sunday to have his finger drained and injected with cortisone. He missed four games earlier in the month due to the same condition. It's possible that he will be available for Tuesday's game.

Our View:

Cuddyer has played nearly every game for the Twins this season and has 34 RBI and scored 34 times. He is a solid player when healthy, but don't count on him for Tuesday. It's best to wait and see when he lands back in the starting lineup before inserting him in yours.

June 13, 2009

The St. Paul Pioneer Press is reporting that Michael Cuddyer is not in the Twins' lineup Saturday due to inflammation in his right index finger. He is being replaced by Carlos Gomez in center field.

Our View:

The Twins are concerned with Cuddyer, and with Denard Span also out the team is very thin in the outfield. They will probably bring someone up from Triple-A for tomorrow's game, but no word yet if Cuddyer will be the one to head to the DL.

June 11, 2009

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Michael Cuddyer will start in centerfield on Thursday when the Twins take on the A's. Jason Kubel will be in right and Delmon Young will be in line.

Our View:

Denard Span remains sidelined with dizziness and Carlos Gomez just hasn't been cutting it at the plate this season. Cuddyer is hitting .267 with 33 RBI and 33 runs scored on the season.

June 6, 2009

Updating a previous report, Michael Cuddyer is indeed in the lineup for Saturday's game, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:

Looks like the finger is good to go. Feel free to get Cuddyer back in your lineup. He should fare well against the litany of lefty starters over the next five games.

June 6, 2009

According to MLB.com, Michael Cuddyer may return to the lineup on Saturday against the Mariners.

Our View:

Cuddyer has missed four straight games with a strained index finger, but has improved enough to be considered for today's lineup. The Twins may push him a bit due to the fact that they want a solid right-handed bat in the lineup. They face lefty starters the next five straight games.

June 5, 2009

Updating an earlier report, Michael Cuddyer is not in tonight's lineup at Seattle, according to the Seattle Times. He is recovering from a strained right index finger.

Our View:

Jason Kubel will start in right field with Brian Buscher in the DH role. Cuddyer is expected to return to the diamond before the end of the weekend.

June 5, 2009

Michael Cuddyer took batting practice Thursday, and reportedly looked healthy, according to the Star Tribune. He has been recovering from a strained right index finger.

Our View:

Cuddyer should return to his post in right field by the end of the weekend, if not tonight at Seattle.

June 3, 2009

Michael Cuddyer will be held out of the Twins lineup again on Wednesday due to a swollen finger on his right hand, according to the Pioneer Press. He is considered day-to-day, but manager Ron Gardenhire said he can't afford to have Cuddyer day-to-day for "seven or eight days."

Our View:

It looks like Cuddyer could be headed to the DL, which would open up more at bats in the Twins' crowded outfield. He is hitting .276/.363/.514 on the season with nine home runs and three triples.

June 2, 2009

Michael Cuddyer in not in Tuesday's lineup against Cleveland while dealing with a strained right index finger, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:

Cuddyer dislocated the same finger last season, and skipper Ron Gardenhire is concerned that his injury could linger. He should be held out of fantasy lineups until further notice.

May 31, 2009

Michael Cuddyer left Sunday's game in the second inning with what appears to be an injured finger, according to MLBlogs.com. He went for X-rays in the stadium.

Our View:

We will keep you updated on the results of the X-rays. Cuddyer was replaced by Delmon Young, who played left while Denard Span shifted to right.

May 25, 2009

Michael Cuddyer's solo home run in Monday's 6-5 loss to the Red Sox his fifth home run in his last eight games. It was his only hit in four at bats.

Our View:

Cuddyer has just eight home runs all season, and this power surge was certainly unexpected. He is unlikely to keep this up, but he has reached 24 home runs and 109 RBI as recently as 2006.

May 22, 2009

Michael Cuddyer went 4-for-5 and hit for the cycle as the Twins beat the Brewers 11-3 on Friday. He tallied five RBI, and two runs scored.

Our View:

Cuddyer has been red hot for the Twins over his last four games. He has hit 11-for-19 with home runs in each of his last three and seven total extra base hits. He has accounted for 10 RBI and nine runs scored over that span. If Cuddyer is available, he is probably worth adding. He was excellent in 2006 and had another strong season in 2007. He is hitting in a premeir run producing spot behind Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer.

May 21, 2009

Michael Cuddyer went 4-for-6 with a homer run and three RBI in the Twins' crushing 20-1 defeat of the White Sox. He also scored four runs in the contest.

Our View:

Cuddyer had a miserable April, but is picking up the pace in May. He has a .325 average this month and now has six homers and 25 RBI on the season. He is a streaky hitter, and appears to be heating up, so expect decent production for the next handful of games.

May 21, 2009

Michael Cuddyer had a big night again on Wednesday, but his Twins fell to the White Sox, 7-4. Cuddyer went 1-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI in the game.

Our View:

Cuddyer has had a slow start to the year, but he is still a pretty good hitter. He can hit for some power, and if he starts showing it he will be solid fantasy option again. Right now, he is just an average fantasy player at best.

May 4, 2009

Michael Cuddyer had a nice night on Monday, going 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI. Cuddyer now has 13 RBI on the year and is hitting .267.

Our View:

Cuddyer hasn't been great to start the season, but he had a very good night tonight. He is still an option in AL-only leagues, but his value in mixed leagues is still pretty iffy.

March 26, 2009

Michael Cuddyer was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored on Thursday. He's now hitting .302 this spring.

Our View:

Cuddyer will be platooning in the outfield this season, so he will have limited fantasy value, but could still have a decent number of at-bats. He'll split time with Delmon Young, Denard Span and Carlos Gomez.

March 22, 2009

The Boston Globe reports that the Twins will employ Michael Cuddyer as part of a four-man rotation in the outfield that includes Delmon Young, Carlos Gomez, and Denard Span. "It'll work just fine," Cuddyer said. "You leave your ego at the door and you do what it takes to win games as a team. It's a good problem to have because it means you have good players."

Our View:

Cuddyer played in 71 games as season ago, batting .249 with 36 RBI. He very well may give up playing time to Span, who figures to bat leadoff and, along with Gomez and Young, provide the Twins with speed in the outfield.

March 21, 2009

Michael Cuddyer went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Saturday's 2-1 win over Philadelphia. He hit a single and a double.

Our View:

He raised his spring average to .314. Cuddyer looks to be a decent value pick for AL-only and deeper mixed leagues, especially if can regain his power.

March 11, 2009

Michael Cuddyer had a 3-for-4 afternoon in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Orioles. Cuddyer laced two doubles and drove in his first run of the spring.

Our View:

Cuddyer is now hitting .300 this spring, but is still a far cry from the man that popped 24 homers and drove in over 100 in 2006. He's looking for a return to form this year, but no one is holding their breath.

March 1, 2009

Michael Cuddyer's poor spring continued on Sunday, as he went 0-for-3 in a 2-1 loss to Boston.

Our View:

Cuddyer is only batting .143 so far this spring and isn't expected to have much fantasy value this season as he didn't play well in 2008, even when he was healthy.
