Ichiro went 2-for-6 in the game, dropping his AL-second best average to .353. If he continues hitting at his current clip, it would be the fourth time in his illustrious nine-year career he finished with an average above .350, a rare feat.
With a second inning infield single in game two of a day/night doubleheader, Ichiro Suzuki became the first player in Major League history to have at least 200 hits in nine consecutive seasons. Ichiro finished the game 1-for-5 with an RBI as the Mariners blanked the Rangers 5-0.
Ichiro is a marvel. The guy is just consistency embodied. He received a standing ovation for his career effort and broke the streak of eight consecutive seasons with 200 hits set by Willie Keeler. Fitting that the record setting hit was an infield single.
Ichiro Suzuki picked up his 196th and 197th hits on Saturday night, including his ninth home run, as the Mariners easily dispatched the Rangers 8-3 on the road.
Ichiro is now just two hits shy of his ninth straight 200-hit season.
Ichiro Suzuki recorded his 2,000th major league hit on Sunday against the A's.
He reached the mark in just 1,402 games, second to only Al Simmons' 1,390 as the fastest in baseball history to reach the mark. Including the 1,278 hits he accumulated in Japan, he now has 3,278 professional hits at the age of 35.
Ichiro Suzuki is penciled into tonight's lineup against the Angels, according to the Associated Press.
Ichiro was given the green light to return following his bout with a strained left calf. The star outfielder should be fine to return to fantasy lineups.
Ichiro Suzuki is expected to return to the Mariners' lineup Tuesday against the Angels, according to the Associated Press. He has been recovering from a strained left calf.
Ichiro missed eight straight games with the injury, but the elite hitter should be fine to pencil back into lineups if he returns Tuesday.
Ichiro Suzuki's return to the Mariners' lineup is uncertain while recovering from a strained left calf, according to the Seattle Times.
The club was hopeful he would return at some point this weekend, but that no longer seems likely. Ichiro still experiences pain while running, and skipper Don Wakamatsu did not speculate when he may be deemed fit to play.
Ichiro Suzuki could remain out of the Mariners' lineup until the weekend, according to the Seattle Times. He is recovering from a strained left calf.
Ichiro is progressing as he took batting practice Thursday, and Seattle is taking things slow with the elite outfielder.
Ichiro Suzuki has been advised to rest and take it easy while recovering from a strained left calf, according to the Associated Press.
Ichiro stretched on the field with the Mariners Wednesday before batting practice, then headed inside for treatment. He could return to the lineup later in the week, and skipper Don Wakamatsu does not believe his injury is severe enough to send him to the DL.
Ichiro Suzuki will be out of action longer than anticipated, according to the Associated Press.
The Mariners were hoping he would be ready to return from his sore calf Wednesday, but now it appears that he won't be fit to return until late in the week. Skipper Don Wakamatsu noted that Ichiro is improving though.
Ichiro Suzuki is considered day-to-day while dealing with a strained left calf, according to Ryan Divish's (Tacoma News Tribune) twitter page.

The incomparable Ichiro finds himself batting .359, and is cruising toward his ninth straight 200-hit season.
Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's 10-3 loss to the Indians.
Ichiro is still chasing Joe Mauer for the AL batting title, but it has become a close race. The Japanese superstar has hit over .300 every month this season, highlighted by a .407 month of June.
ESPN.com reports that while in St. Louis for the 80th All Star Game, Ichiro Suzuki visited the grave of former all-time single-season hits leader George Sisler to pay his respects.
This is just a classy move by the Japanese import. Ichiro, who broke Sisler's mark of 257 hits in 2004, paid his respects to one of the all-time greats by placing flowers on Sisler's grave. This doesn't quite have the hype of the Maris Family-McGwire exchange, but a genuine and heartwarming display none the less.
Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe is reporting on her Twitter page that AL manager Joe Maddon has released his lineup for Tuesday night's game. It will be Ichiro Suzuki in right field, Derek Jeter at shortstop, Joe Mauer catching, Mark Teixeira at first base, Jason Bay in left field, Josh Hamilton in center field, Evan Longoria at third base, Aaron Hill at second base, and Roy Halladay pitching.
No big surprises here, although it seems like Longoria is a little low. It will be interesting to see how long Josh Hamilton plays since he is coming off injury, but it is nice to see him in the lineup.
Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-5 with an RBI in the Mariners' 5-3 win on Sunday.
The ageless import is hitting .362 this season. He already has 128 hits in 80 games, unfortunately only 27 of them are for extra bases.
Ichiro Suzuki had a big night on Thursday as the Mariners beat the Yankees 8-4, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base.
Ichiro is doing exactly what you would expect of him in 2009, leading the American League in hitting and doing everything he can to keep the Mariners in contention. Even at age 35, he remains a premier fantasy outfielder.
Ichiro Suzuki went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 9-3 win over the Padres at Safeco Field. He hit a double, homer and two singles.
Ichiro raised his MLB-leading batting average to .369 and is riding an eight-game hitting streak. He hit his first homer of June as well.
Ichiro Suzuki knocked three hits on Saturday as the Mariners beat the Twins 2-1. Ichiro went 3-for-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI in the game.
Ichiro is still a hitting machine, but that should come as no surprise to anyone. His run total leaves a bit to be desired, but there's nothing he can do about that. He is hitting .354 on the year, so he remains a solid fantasy outfielder.
Ichiro Suzuki got a hit for the 27th straight game on Wednesday as the Mariners beat the Orioles 3-2. It was his only hit in three at bats but he also drew a walk, laid down a sac bunt and scored a run.
Ichiro has reached base 58 times during the streak, but he has only scored 13 times. How is that possible?
Ichiro Suzuki extended his hitting streak to 26 games as he went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles in Tuesday's 8-2 win over Baltimore at Safeco Field.
Ichiro has 46 total hits over his streak. He continues to rank near the top of the AL with his .353 batting average.
Ichiro Suzuki extended his hitting streak to 25 games with a double in Monday's 1-0 loss to the Orioles at Safeco Field.
He has 44 total hits over the streak, but only scored 10 runs and collected seven RBI due to a poor supporting cast in Seattle.
Ichiro will be attempting to tie his Seattle franchise record 24-game hitting streak when the Mariners play the Orioles on Monday, according to The Sports Network.
As usual, Ichiro remains an elite fantasy option and among the American League's best players.
Ichiro Suzuki went 4-for-5 with a home run and two doubles against the Angels on Sunday.
Ichiro has upped his average from .310 to .354 over Seattle's past eight games and, as he often is, appears poised to challenge for the AL batting title this season.
Ichiro Suzuki was 4-for-4 in Monday's 6-2 loss to Oakland, but the next seven hitters in the order managed just two hits. He did get a stolen base but failed to score even once.
Ichiro is riding a 19-game hitting streak and has a hit in all but one game going back to April 28. ON the season, he has failed to register a hit in only four of 38 games. Although he is hitting .335, he only has 16 runs scored. The 35-year-old is still incredibly productive, but the rest of his offense continues to limit his fantasy value.
Ichiro Suzuki had three hits on Thursday in the Mariners' 3-1 loss to the Royals. He had a double and stole a base, and he is now hitting .316 on the year.
Ichiro continues to hit, but he did ground out with the bases loaded to end the game today. The average will always be there with Ichiro, and he should still steal his share of bases. Although he is not quite the fantasy player he once was, he is still a valuable commodity.
Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-5 in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Athletics at Safeco Field. Both of his hits were singles.
He raised his season average to .306. He is riding a four-game hitting streak, and has scored three runs and stole one base over the span.
Ichiro Suzuki homered in the first inning off James Shields for the only run of the game. The pitchers did the rest and the Mariners' made the lone run stick with a 1-0 win. Ichiro was 2-for-4 on the day with a stolen base.
Ichiro now has two home runs in just eight games this season, but it's the steals that fantasy owners are concerned with. He has two so far and will clearly add to that total, but don't expect the big numbers from his hey day.
In his first game since coming off the DL, Ichiro Suzuki went off. He was 2-for-5 with a grand slam in the Mariners 11-3 trouncing of the Angels on Wednesday. He also tied the record for most hits by a Japanese player.
Fantasy owners have to be floating now that they can put Ichiro back in their lineups. He appears to be healthy as a horse now as well, so let's just put the whole DL thing behind us. He opened his season in grand fashion Wednesday.
According to the Seattle Times, the Mariners activated All Star outfielder Ichiro Suzuki on Wednesday.
This is what everyone expected, so it's good that Ichiro didn't suffer any last minute setbacks. He is now safe to plug into fantasy lineups, assuming you drafted him regardless of his preseason injury.
Ichiro Suzuki expects to return to the diamond Wednesday against the Angels following his recovery from a bleeding ulcer, according to ESPN.
He would be back April 15, as expected. Ichiro should be fine for fantasy duty upon his return.
Ichiro Suzuki, who is recovering from a bleeding ulcer and fatigue, hit a single in his first at-bat in an extended spring training game today, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
Mariners' skipper Don Wakamatsu noted that Ichiro will play three games before being re-evaluated. He may be ready to return on April 15.
The Seattle Times reports that Ichiro Suzuki's blood tests revealed that his bleeding ulcer is improving. The Mariners plan on using him at DH tomorrow in an extended spring training game. He will be re-evaluated after the game, and the team still thinks he will return on April 15.
This is good news for Ichiro. He should only miss around 10 games before making another run at a 200-hit season. The team plans to use him as the No. 3 hitter this season.
Ichiro Suzuki will undergo a blood test on Wednesday in order to determine if the medication for his bleeding ulcer is working properly, according to MLB.com. He is still expected to return to action on April 15.
Ichiro has reported positive progress since landing on the DL a few days ago. This is the first time in his career that he has landed on the DL, and we expect him to have another strong season, despite the less than desirable start.
Ichiro Suzuki is apparently recovering very well from the severe fatigue he had been suffering due to a bleeding ulcer and is expected to return to Seattle's lineup once he's eligible to come off the DL on April 15, according to MLB.com.
"He's increasing his workload down there [in Arizona]," manager Don Wakamatsu said of Ichiro, "and if everything goes as planned and he keeps progressing, he'll probably meet us in Oakland." Apparently, the plan is to have Ichiro meet up with the Mariners during their series in Oakland from April 10-12, and while he won't be eligible to play until April 15, that's still a very good sign. It looks like Ichiro owners shouldn't be too frustrated about his placement on the DL, as they will only need to find a replacement for his first eight games, with no lingering effects expected to be suffered by the veteran outfielder.
Ichiro Suzuki will be placed on the 15-day DL due to a bleeding ulcer, according to MLB.com. He was examined by doctors as he was suffering from severe fatigue.
The move is retroactive to March 31, and he will miss the first eight games of the season. He is eligible to return April 15.
Ichiro Suzuki is getting examined by team doctors to determine the cause of fatigue that has kept him on the shelf for the last three days, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
Ichiro is still expected to accompany the Mariners to Las Vegas on Friday for a pair of games against the Rockies. We will keep you posted on his status.
Ichiro Suzuki was given the day off Tuesday after feeling light-headed on Monday, according to MLB.com. Skipper Don Wakamatsu said, "I think it has something to do with all the travel during the World Baseball Classic. We are going to give him today off and then re-evaluate on whether or not to put him in the lineup tomorrow."
Ichiro should be fine with just a bit of rest, and is expected to be ready to go for opening day.
Ichiro Suzuki was 1-for-2 while hitting No. 3 in the Mariners order on Monday as they lost 9-7 to the Brewers. He is 5-for-12 with five singles since returning from the WBC.
The Mariners acquired more speed in the offseason, and it appears they may put Ichiro in the three-hole this season. It should be interesting to see how the long-time leadoff man adapts. He is as professional as any hitter in baseball, and the Mariners seem to think he has a lot more power than his 21 home runs over the past three seasons suggest.
Ichiro Suzuki was 1-for-5 with a run scored in Japan's 6-2 win over Korea on Thursday.
This performance actually improved his batting average to .158 in the WBC. Regardless, we feel Ichiro is as good a bet as there is for a player to hit .300 this season.
Ichiro Suzuki was 3-for-5 with three runs scored as Japan defeated South Korea 14-2 on Friday.
Ichiro was a mere 3-for-23 in the exhibitions leading up to this event, so it was nice to see him make such consistent contact. He has been as consistent as any major leaguer since coming into the league. Expect to make another run at his solid production from last season.
Ichiro Suzuki looked lost at the plate in the WBC's opener against China. The Mariner's outfielder was 0-for-5 and stranded three runners. He did have a nice play in the field though.
This performance is not indicative of Ichiro's season. He's still a lock to hit over .300, steal 30 bases and contribute in other categories as well. A solid number two fantasy outfielder.
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer suggests that there is truth to the rumors that Ichiro Suzuki is at the center of the Mariners' chemistry issues. J.J. Putz recently claimed that there was "so much more (Ichiro) could do." Former Mariners manager Jim Riggleman also said that he approached Ichiro and asked him to change his approach after the all-star break. Adrian Beltre says that there were some players who were not playing the game the right way last season, but he would not go as far as to name Ichiro. And finally, new manager Don Wakamatsu suggested that the team's hierarchy needs to be changed to one of equality.
Good golly. Really? You want Ichiro to do more? He has accumulated 1805 hits over eight seasons (which is unheard of), while scoring over 100 runs and stealing at least 30 bases in each of those campaigns. Suzuki never takes a day off, has a canon for an arm, and has a career .807 OPS (amazing for a leadoff hitter). If he played for one of the Top 10 teams in the league, he would be a perennial MVP candidate. What makes this even more baffling is that the finger-pointing is coming from members of a Seattle team that won 61 games last year and finished last in the American League.
There has been some talks that Seattle outfielder Ichiro Suzuki might pitch for Japan in the World Baseball Classic, but it's an idea the Mariners are not on board with, according to MLB.com. "I don't think it's a good idea. I just don't think it is a very good idea after the career he has built. It wouldn't be worth hurting his elbow," said new Seattle manager Don Wakamatsu.
Reports were that Ichiro threw a bullpen session in Japan's workout over the weekend that was nearly 60 pitches, including a number of curveballs. Ichiro has always had a dynamite arm, and he can reportedly still hum it in there at more than 90 mph, but he has a contract that lasts four more seasons, and the chances of him injuring himself would be too costly for the Mariners, not to mention fantasy owners.
