MLBlogs.com is reporting that the Dodgers have shuffled their batting order for Sunday's Game 3 against the Phillies. Second baseman Ronnie Belliard will hit second, while everyone else behind him will move down one spot.
Belliard has been swinging a hot bat in the postseason, and the Dodgers need to get something going offensively if they are going to stay in this series. Cliff Lee is on the hill for the Phils tonight, so the Dodgers will need all the help they can get.
The red hot Ronnie Belliard was at it again on Saturday. His 3-for-5, three-run effort sparked the Dodgers to an 8-4 win over the Pirates and included his tenth homer of the season.
Belliard is hitting .333 with five homers and 16 RBI since joining the Dodgers this season. He's been a nice late-season boost for a club destined to play into October.
Ronnie Belliard led the way for the Dodgers on Thursday as LA defeated Arizona by a score of 4-2. Belliard went 2-for-3 with three RBI in the game.
The Dodgers were led to victory tonight by their two newest players, as Belliard drove in three and Jon Garland picked up the win. Belliard will be on the bench more often than not, but he can provide some defense and the occasional hit when he plays.
According to the LA Times, the Dodgers have acquired second baseman Ronnie Belliard from the Nationals for right-hander Luis Garcia and a player to be named later.
The Dodgers wanted to beef up their bench and with the Nats trying to unload Belliard, it was a perfect fit. The portly second baseman is hitting .247 with five homers and 22 RBI this season and is in the final year of a two-year $3.5 million extension he signed in 2007. He's a versatile fielder who has spent time at first, second and third in 2009 and will give the Dodgers plenty of options. Expect his playing time to decrease dramatically though, so he'll no longer hold what minimal fantasy value he was carrying. The Nats get Garcia (22-years-old), who is a Single-A starter with a 2.92 ERA and a low 90's fastball.
Ronnie Belliard's fifth inning home run proved to be the game-winner on Friday night, as the Nats blanked the Reds 2-0 in Cincinnati.
Now there's a name you don't hear very often. With a .232 average, expect it to remain a trend.
Infielder Ronnie Belliard was scheduled to play on Saturday, but he was taken out of the lineup because he was late, MLBlogs.com reports. Anderson Hernandez started at second base.
The Nationals may want to think about investing in watches for their players.
According to the Washington Post, Ronnie Belliard is "ready to play", says manager Manny Acta. Belliard has been sidelined since April 8 with a back injury.
Belliard has only one hit in his nine at-bats thus far in 2009. He is not much of a fantasy option except in very deep NL-only leagues, and even then he will not give much production.
According to the Washington Post, Ronnie Belliard is out with a back injury. He hurt himself swinging on Tuesday and is considered day-to-day.
Back injuries can be nagging, so keep an eye on Ronnie. Although, he's probably not in your lineup unless you are in a deep NL-only league. He's a modest fantasy producer, at best.
With Anderson Hernandez dealing with a hamstring injury, Ronnie Belliard will handle the chores at second base, the Washington Post reports.
Belliard is currently dealing with an ankle sprain, but should be ready to go on Opening Day. He'd be the starter there with Hernandez out, but his fantasy value should be limited to NL-only leagues.
According to the Washington Post, Ronnie Belliard injured his ankle running through the first base bag on Wednesday.
Belliard may be out a while after being helped off the field, luckily for fantasy owners he didn't hold any value anyway as a backup second baseman.
