Newsbreakers

October 2, 2009

Adrian Beltre went 2-for-4 with his eighth home run on Thursday, as the Mariners beat the A's 4-2 at home.

Our View:

You read that right: only eight home runs for Adrian Beltre in 2009. That's over the course of 108 games. Look for the free-agent-to-be to get paid, at the minimum, half as much as the $13 million he made per season the last five years in Seattle.

September 13, 2009

Adrian Beltre went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Rangers.

Our View:

Beltre has disappointed on many levels this season. Whether it's been his inability to stay healthy or his .263 average, five homers and 35 RBI, fantasy owners (if there are any left) don't have much to smile about.

September 1, 2009

Adrian Beltre has been activated from the 15-day DL following his recovery from a contused testicle, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:

Beltre's contract with Seattle runs out after the season, and he will try to post strong numbers down the stretch in his bid for a new deal.

August 29, 2009

Adrian Beltre was not ready to come off the DL when first eligible Friday, but skipper Don Wakamatsu believes be may be ready to return Tuesday, according to the Seattle Times. He has been recovering from a contused testicle.

Our View:

This is good news, and hopefully Beltre will learn his lesson and wear the proper protection when he returns, as this injury could have been avoided.

August 26, 2009

Adrian Beltre is still uncertain if he will be able to come off the DL when eligible on Friday, according to MLB.com. Beltre is still recovering from a severely contused right testicle.

Our View:

This should be a lesson to all young ballplayers out there to wear protective equipment when playing the infield. There is still some swelling, but Beltre has been working out over the last few days and it has been going well. If he doesn't come off Friday, he should be able to do so soon after.
