The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports. Scott Rolen is back in the lineup for the Reds on Tuesday after dealing with back spasms.
Rolen missed the Reds past two games against the Astros, but his back is healthy enough to return to action. This will be his first series against the Cardinals since leaving the team. The Reds visited St. Louis last month, but Rolen missed the series due to concussion symptoms.
Scott Rolen led the charge for the Reds in Tuesday's 10-4 win over the Pirates. He went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and three RBI.
Rolen has more or less been a dud since coming to the Reds, so it's nice to see him have a productive game. Coming into play on Tuesday he was hitting just .214 in September and had only homered twice since July 27th.
Scott Rolen went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI in the Reds 5-4 come from behind win over the Astros on Tuesday.
Rolen hasn't been the same player since coming over from Toronto and the third baseman has been especially cold in September. He's amassed just 15 total bases this month.
Scott Rolen picked a dramatic time to hit his second home run with the Reds on Wednesday, blasting a solo shot in the ninth inning to untie a 2-2 game. In typical Reds fashion, however, they would immediately cough the lead up in the bottom of the ninth, losing 4-3 in Colorado.
In 21 games with the Reds in 2009, Rolen is now batting .278 with two home runs and ten RBI.
Scott Rolen is out of the Reds lineup on Wednesday, according to MLBlogs.com.
It is just a day of rest for Rolen, and not related to the concussion he suffered last month. Expect him to be back in the Reds lineup when they play the Braves on Friday.
Scott Rolen went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in the Reds 3-2 loss to the Dodgers on Sunday.
Rolen has rebounded nicely since coming off the DL with a nasty concussion after being hit in dome by a pitch. He's 10-for-30 since returning to action.
Scott Rolen went 2-for-5 with a stolen base on Wednesday, helping the Reds past Milwaukee 4-3 in ten innings on the road.
Rolen, thankfully, has had few problems since being activated from the disabled list after sustaining a concussion in early august, going 6-for-15.
As expected, Scott Rolen has been activated from the 15-day disabled list, according to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse.
By all means, get him back into your lineup next week - just don't expect too much production from him. He is coming back from a concussion, and the Reds offense has been one of the worst in baseball this season, so it's hard to envision him putting up big numbers.
Scott Rolen is expected to be activated and in the Reds lineup on Sunday, according to the Twitter page of MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo. Rolen has been on the DL while dealing with post-concussion symptoms.
The plan all along has been that Rolen would be activated tomorrow, so it looks like he is on track. He should be good to go for fantasy owners so get him in the lineupbefore Sunday's game.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Reds' third baseman Scott Rolen will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville on Thursday. Rolen has been on the DL since August 11 with post-concussion symptoms.
Rolen is expected to be activated on Sunday, so Rolen owners need to be ready to activate him as well. It looks like he is feeling much better, so he should be a regular in the lineup when he returns.
Dealing with the after effects of a concussion, Scott Rolen was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday, according to MLB.com's Mark Sheldon.
Not that the team could have foreseen Rolen getting hit in the head, but this trade just keeps looking worse and worse for the Reds. With his long and winding injury history, don't expect there to be a quick comeback.
Scott Rolen was re-evaluated in Cincinnati by specialist Dr. John Brannan for concussion-like symptoms Sunday, according to the Associated Press.
Rolen will remain on the shelf for several more days before getting the green light to return. Keep him out of lineups until further notice.
According to John Fayman on Twitter, Scott Rolen is out of the lineup Sturday due to concussion-like symptoms.
Rolen has been scattered in and out of the lineup all week since getting plunked in the head by Jason Marquis. Rolen is extremely injury prone and has been throughout his career, so one has to wonder if this is going to turn into something serious. Beware of post concussion syndrome. It's not exclusive to hockey players.
After missing the team's past two games after getting hit in the head on Sunday, newest Red Scott Rolen homered on Wednesday night, helping the Reds and Justin Lehr shutout the Cubs 4-0 at home.
Say what you will about the wisdom of the Reds acquiring a 34-year-old third baseman on the downslope of his career - dude can still hit, and will likely keep doing so for the rest of 2009, especially in the cozy Great American Ballpark.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Scott Rolen is back in the Reds' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Rolen will play third and hit fifth, after not appearing in a game since being beaned in the head on Sunday against the Rockies. He should be fine to insert back into fantasy lineups as well.
The Boston Globe is reporting that the results of the CT scan on the head of Scott Rolen came back normal. Rolen is expected to return to the lineup in the next few days.
The injury to Rolen's head wasn't believed to be serious, but it is always good to get a positive test back on an injury to that party of the body. Expect him to return to the lineup soon.
Scott Rolen will miss his second straight game on Tuesday after getting hit in the head in his second game with the Reds on Sunday, according to MLB.com's Mark Sheldon.
No word on whether or not the injury is a concussion yet. Sadly for the Reds, their disastrous trade appears to be getting off to a disastrous start.
Scott Rolen is not in the Reds' lineup for their Monday night game against the Chicago Cubs. He will be replaced by Adam Rosales at third base.
Rolen left Sunday's game after being hit on the head by Jason Marquis pitch, but the injury is not considered serious. This is more precautionary than anything, but Rolen owners should monitor the situation for his status for tomorrow's game.
Scott Rolen left Sunday's game against the Rockies in the seventh inning after getting beaned in the helmet by a Jason Marquis fastball.
Marquis and Rolen were teammates in St. Louis, so this probably wasn't a result of bad blood. The injury didn't seem serious either, as Rolen wasn't down long and walked off under his own power. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Scott Rolen is in the lineup and will bat fifth for the Reds on Saturday, the Cincinnati Enquirer confirms.
Rolen takes over a nice slot right behind Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips. He will hopefully have more RBI chances in his new home and his value should increase after the move out of Toronto.
Updating a previous report, Scott Rolen is expected to waive his no trade clause and will head to Cincinnati to become the Reds' newest third baseman, according to FOXSports.com.
The Blue Jays will receive Edwin Encarnacion and a minor leaguer in return. Rolen has plenty of reasons (as stated previously) to head to Cincy, and if his resurgence this season is no fluke he should see an increase in power by playing half his games in the Great American Ballpark. Look for his fantasy value to go North.
According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, the Reds have acquired third baseman Scott Rolen from the Blue Jays.
There is a catch here. Rolen has a no trade clause that he would have to waive for the deal to be complete. It's hard to see him saying no to a return to the NL, a reunion with GM Walt Jocketty, a move that brings him closer to his Indiana home and a chance to stick it to his former team (St. Louis). Stay tuned.
Scott Rolen to the Reds rumors are still persisting, with there now even being a Reds player, hitting prospect Yonder Alonso, named as who the Blue Jays would receive in return, according to the Providence Journal.
The Reds' baffling pursuit of the 34-year-old Rolen only appears to be gaining steam, instead of losing it, which many Reds fans surely wish it would. Rolen is hitting .320 this season, but has a laundry list of past injuries and a ton of money still due. And, ohh yeah, the Reds are ten games under .500 and already have a third baseman, Edwin Encarnacion. Strange times in Cincy indeed.
The Reds are still pursuing Scott Rolen, according to FoxSports.com.
That should read "for some reason" the Reds are still pursuing Scott Rolen. There's no doubt he is having a good season in 2009, but is quickly aging and owed a ton of money over the next year and a half. It's been rumored the Reds would have to give up Edwin Encarnacion in return, which makes any potential deal even more head-scratching for the non-contending team. Apparently Walt Jocketty wants to show that he's traded for Scott Rolen before and that he can do it again.
The resurgent Scott Rolen had another nice day at the plate on Sunday as the Blue Jays beat the Rays 5-1. Rolen went 2-for-4 with a home run, a run scored, and three RBI in the win.
Rolen has the average up to .318 on the year, and although he only has eight home runs, he is still a strong fantasy play. As long as he stays healthy for the rest of the year, he should continue to hit the ball well and contribute in all aspects of the game.
According to FOXSports.com, the Reds are interested in Blue Jays' third baseman Scott Rolen.
Apparently the two teams have been in discussions for the past few days. Rolen is having a fine bounce back campaign in Toronto this season, hitting .316, but it seems odd that the Reds would be trying to make a move when they could be eight games out of first at the end of play Saturday. Should a deal get done regardless, they would likely have to include third baseman Edwin Encarnacion. We'll keep you posted.
Scott Rolen went 2-for-4 with a solo homer off Cliff Lee in tonight's 2-1 loss to the Indians at the Rogers Centre. His other knock was a single.
The Jays only mustered seven hits in the game, and Rolen was their lone source of scoring. Rolen has two hits in two of his last three games, and raised his team-leading batting average to .320.
According to the Twitter page of Toronto sports columnist Jeff Blair, the Red Sox are very interested in Blue Jays' third baseman Scott Rolen. The team is concerned with the health of Mike Lowell, and manager Terry Francona is said to be a big fan of Rolen.
Rolen is getting a ton of interest on the market at this point, mainly due to the fact that he has shown the league he can still hit. Look for the Sox to make some kind of move if they don't feel they can rely on Lowell, and Rolen could be a good option for them.
The Cincinnati Reds are interested in acquiring Scott Rolen, according to the Toronto Sun.
Reds GM Walt Jocketty has already traded for Scott Rolen once, in 2002 as GM of the Cardinals. Rolen is currently on a 25-game hitting streak, and third in the American League in hitting at .330. With him would come hefty salaries for the rest of this season and next, though, so how likely this really is isn't clear. The Reds are rumored, however, to have even offered their 26-year-old starting third baseman Edwin Encarnacion in return, so they could be dead serious.
Blue Jays' beat writer Jordan Bastian is reporting on his Twitter page that third baseman Scott Rolen is not in the team's lineup for their Thursday afternoon game against the Rays. Rolen will be replaced by Jose Bautista at third.
Rolen is in the middle of a 25-game hitting streak, but manager Cito Gaston felt like Rolen could use a day off today. Hopefully this won't affect his hotness at the plate, but fantasy owners should get him out today if possible. He will play tomorrow, so get him back in after the game today.
Scott Rolen extended his hitting streak to 25-games on Wednesday night with a 3-for-5 performance against the Rays. He doubled, drove in a run and scored a run in the Jays' 10-9 loss.
Rolen continues to amaze this season. He's now hitting .330 to lead the Jays in average and has been a model of efficiency in the cleanup spot this season. He could use a few more RBI (34) in that damage spot though. Still, the hit streak should keep owners from complaining.
Scott Rolen went 1-for-5 with a single, and recorded the Jays' lone RBI in tonight's 3-1 loss at Tampa Bay.
The Jays had 10 hits, but stranded 16 men on base. Rolen extended his hitting streak to 24 games, and continues to lead Toronto with a .325 batting average.
Scott Rolen was 2-for-5 with a home run, a stolen base, two RBI, and a run scored as Toronto defeated Philadelphia 7-1 on Wednesday.
Rolen has a seven game hitting streak going in which he's totaled 15 hits and raised his average from .294 to .325. He does not deliver much power, but he scores runs and is producing a very good average.
Scott Rolen went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's 9-0 win at Texas. He had a double and a pair of singles.
Rolen is hot as he has three hits in back-to-back games. He raised his season average to .314.
Scott Rolen is not in Sunday's lineup against Kansas City while nursing a stiff back, according to MLB.com.
Juan Bautista replaces him at third base. Manager Cito Gaston noted that the severity of Rolen's ailment is yet to be determined, but is hopeful Rolen will be able to return Monday against the Rangers.
Scott Rolen was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI in the Blue Jays' 6-3 win over the Red Sox on Friday.
Rolen has been surprisingly good this season. The smooth-fielding third baseman has a .302 average and has 15 doubles to go with three homers and 18 RBI. He's a good waiver pick in mixed leagues if your third baseman goes down with an injury.
Scott Rolen provided another solid performance on Wednesday, going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Rolen is hitting .325 on the year.
He may not be the fantasy player he once was, but his .325 average is keeping him valid in fantasy circles. The power is not going to be there, but he is a solid option in all leagues if he keeps hitting like this.
Scott Rolen continued his solid season with a 3-for-4 effort on Tuesday. He drove in three of the Blue Jays five runs as they whipped the Yankees 5-1.
Last year it looked like Toronto got the short end of the stick in the Rolen-Troy Glaus trade, but 2009 is a different story. Glaus won't play until after the All Star break (if at all) and Rolen is chugging along with a .319 average and 15 RBI. He's emerged as a surprisingly solid fantasy third baseman.
Scott Rolen continued his impressive start to the season as he had two hits and two RBI in four at-bats. Rolen is now hitting .317 with 12 RBI through 26 games played.
Rolen has only gone deep three times, but his.300+ average with an OBP approaching .400 is about all you could ask for from a guy who has been a walking band aide for the past few seasons.
Third baseman Scott Rolen is out of the lineup on Saturday. Jose Bautista will start at third against the Orioles.
Rolen has been swinging pretty well, but the Blue Jays are presumably just letting him rest because this is a day game after a night contest.
Scott Rolen had another solid outing at the plate, going 2-for-4 in the Blue Jays extra-inning loss to the Twins on Tuesday. He raised his average to .406.
Rolen obviously won't hit .400 for much longer, but it's nice to see him get off to a hot start. Beware of injuries though as Rolen's history of ailments leads one to believe he's made of glass.
Scott Rolen hit his first home run of the season Tuesday against Detroit. He finished Toronto's 5-4 loss 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
At age 34, Rolen's better days are behind him, but it was nice to see him get off to a solid start. He'll be nothing more than a waiver player in AL-only leagues, but it's still possible he can surpass last season's home run total of 11.
Scott Rolen went 2-for-2 with a walk, a home run, a double, a run scored, and two runs scored in Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Nationals. He also committed his first error of the spring.
Rolen has been limited to 30 at-bats this spring due to a sore back, but he still figures to be the opening day starter at the hot corner. In those 30 at-bats, he has six extra base hits, including an improbable two triples. He managed 408 at-bats last season, and another 400 in 2009 would be considered a success.
Scott Rolen tweaked his back during Wednesday's game and was forced to exit, according to the Toronto Star.
He is being re-examined today, and we will keep you posted on his status.
Scott Rolen started at third base for the Blue Jays in their 5-4 win over the Reds on Sunday. He was 0-for-2 with two whiffs.
Rolen is a fair 4-for-12 this spring, but he has produced two doubles and a home run in those four hits. His shoulder remains a concern, and 125 games may be an optimistic projection. The good news is that he finished last season on a high note, while flashing plenty of power in the final month. He's a certain risk who carries some reward.
