The Houston Chronicle reports that Darin Erstad missed his second consecutive game Wednesday with back spasms.
He injured the back during a routine running drill and it looks like Father Time may be catching up with Erstad. He is considered day-to-day, but there is no timetable for his return.
Darin Erstad has been activated from the DL following his recovery from a strained left hamstring, according to the Associated Press.
The 35-year-old vet holds little fantasy value as a reserve. He is batting .185 over 92 at-bats this season.
The Houston Chronicle reports that Darin Erstad went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in his first Double-A rehab outing.
Erstad's hamstring didn't bother him during the outing and he got five innings in left field to test it. Barring any setback he could return to the Astros after just one more rehab start.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Darin Erstad (hamstring) likely won't return from the disabled list when first eligible.
Erstad's required DL stint is up on Monday, but the backup first baseman hasn't started running at full speed yet. He's only gotten as far as light jogging and could be delayed quite a bit in his return.
Darin Erstad (left hamstring) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, according to Alyson Footer of MLB.com.
Erstad was forced to leave the team's game Saturday with the injury. Matt Kata has been called up to take his roster spot. Erstad is hitting just .185 in 92 at-bats this season.
Darin Erstad is likely to land on the disabled list Sunday after leaving the team's Saturday game with a strained left hamstring, according to the Houston Chronicle.
He will be reevaluated on Monday, but there is apparently a zero percent chance that he will play today. Erstad is batting just .185 with one home run in 2009, and is not an option at first base or outfield in any format.
Darin Erstad left Saturday's game at Los Angeles with a left hamstring strain, according to Alyson Footer's twitter page.
The severity of the ailment is yet to be determined. He shouldn't be missed in fantasy leagues if forced to miss time, as he is merely a reserve with Houston.
Darin Erstad drove in the game's only run in the ninth inning Sunday to give the Astros a 1-0 win over the Nats.
Barring catastrophic injury to Carlos Lee, Hunter Pence, or Michael Bourn, Erstad will see limited playing time. His value will be limited, even in the deepest of NL-only leagues.
Updating a previous report, Darin Erstad suffered a small fracture in his right cheek after being hit by a line drive on Monday. He is not expected to miss any playing time.
Erstad will likely be a reserve outfielder for the Astros this season. As a result, he holds very little fantasy value.
Darin Erstad was injured when a ball took an awkward hop off the grass and struck him on his right cheekbone, according to MLB.com. He has a bit of swelling, but expects to be fine.
Erstad's fantasy value will be limited while serving as a backup outfielder.
