Journeyman reliever Jason Isringhausen has signed a minor-league contract with the Cincinnati Reds, according to MLB.com's Mark Sheldon.
He made nine appearances for the Rays last season, posting a 2.25 ERA and 1.38 WHIP before going down with injury. He'll likely be up with the Reds sometime in the next few weeks.
Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said that the team made an offer to free agent Jason Isringhausen, according to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Isringhausen threw for the Reds on Tuesday, and the team liked what they saw. Jocketty said they'll know for sure in the "next day or two." It's still not a done deal, and he'll likley spend time in the minors first, but at least it's a shot for the right-hander.
Jason Isringhausen will throw a bullpen session for the Reds this week, according to KFNS' Joe Pelusi.
We'll have to wait and see how the former closer looks before knowing whether or not the Reds will seriously consider signing him. Regardless, we'd be shocked if he was able to garner any fantasy value ever again.
