RedbirdRoost.com: Pujols takes home back-to-back MVPs
Ryan Boyer, our Cardinals correspondent breaks down Albert Pujols' third MVP trophy.

"Albert Pujols was the unanimous winner of the NL MVP today, winning the award for the second straight year and third time overall. He is the 10th player to win three MVP awards and the first ever to win the Rookie of the Year and three MVPs. "

Impact: Just like LeBron James and Adrian Peterson, Albert Pujols is the first overall pick in most fantasy drafts. He will once again be a great source for home runs, RBI, batting average and OPS. What is there left to say about arguably the greatest hitter of this generation?

GodBlessBuckner.com: Investigating Castillo Trade Rumors
Mets correspondent Eno Sarris examines the club's recent trade rumors.

The Mets are trying to find a taker for Luis Castillo.
"Ouch. What's the common thread here? The Mets are trying to trade Castillo and no one wants him. Big surprise for a second baseman that has been worth about $3 million less than the Mets have been paying him, has defense that has been clearly declining since he was in Florida and is now markedly below average, and now owns one skill - not swinging at any pitch whatsoever. "

Impact: The trade market seems pretty thin for the 34-year-old second baseman but then again, Omar Vizquel found a job. Castillo did post better numbers in the stolen base, batting average and RBI categories in 2009 than he did the previous year. However, 40 RBI and 20 steals aren't exactly something to rush out and get on draft day.

KissMyAstros.com: Assessing Value on Lee
Astros correspondent Scott Barzilla discusses the possibility of a trade involving Carlos Lee.

"However, I hardly ever go back one season on these rankings. This is where teams get themselves in trouble. Most analysts go back three or five years to see trends and get a baseline of performance to look at these things. We will go back three years because Lee has been an Astro for three and it tends to work better in projecting future performance."

Impact: Carlos Lee doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon unless he's willing to waive his no-trade clause. With that said, Lee is averaging 29 home runs, 107 RBI, a .306 batting average and an .883 OPS in an Astros uniform. Continue to follow Barzilla's blog for the latest trade rumors on Roy Oswalt and Wandy Rodriguez.

TribeBall.com: The Case Against Asdrubal
John Hoyos, our Indians correspondent, analyzes Asdrubal Cabrera.

"On the surface, it would appear that Cabrera had himself a very good year at the plate. A .308/.361/.438 line with 42 doubles, 4 triples and 6 HRs to accompany a 17/21 stolen base success rate is nothing to sneeze at by any means. The fact that he did that in only 523 at bats because he missed all but 4 games in June with a shoulder injury makes it even more impressive."

Impact: Last season, Cabrera was a decent source for RBI (68), hits (161), and batting average (.308). Sadly, that's about it. However, it's still too early in his career to make an overall assessment of Cabrera and he might end up in a better lineup next season. As MLB trade rumors heat up, stay tuned to Hoyos' blog for the latest update and for his take on how Magglio Ordonez and Edwin Jackson could end up in Cleveland.

PhillyPhanatic.com: State of the Bullpen
Phillies correspondent examines the team's 2010 bullpen.

"The only bullpen arms signed for next year are Ryan Madson, Brad Lidge, and J.C. Romero. After missing most of '09, Romero looks like he miss be absent for the beginning of '10 as well due to elbow surgery. Lidge also recently underwent elbow surgery, and will enter spring training as the closer despite his well-documented struggles. Madson will again man the 8th inning role, where he continues to prove to be one of the elite set-up men in the game."

Impact: You might call Charlie Manuel crazy, but Brad Lidge will be the team's closer again next year. This year, Lidge really dropped off from 2008's 41 save campaign. He had career lows in several categories, including ERA (7.21), overall record (0-8) and blown saves (11). Ryan Madson will again return to his setup role. So if you happen to get stuck with Lidge on draft day, remember that Madson is a good handcuff for all Lidge owners.

TheBlogThatRuthBuilt.com: Considering Cabrera
Craig Williams, our Yankees correspondent, discusses the possibility of Miguel Cabrera in pinstripes next season.

"Everybody on the Detroit Tigers is on the trade block - or so it seems, at least. The Tigers are not planning a fire sale but, they are interested in significantly scaling back payroll and if the right situation presents itself, I would not be surprised to see a guy like Miguel Cabrera moved."

Impact: Whether he's with the Yankees or not next year, Miguel Cabrera can still be counted on to hit his usual 34 homers, his 100+ RBI and the batting average that hovers around the .300 mark. Luckily for the corner infielder, defensive abilities aren't measured in fantasy baseball.
