With the recent departure of last year's starting running back DeShaun Foster, the Carolina Panthers wasted no time on Saturday adding depth to their running game by selecting the Oregon's Jonathan Stewart as the thirteenth overall pick in 2008 NFL Entry Draft. Despite a list of plaguing injuries that have followed Stewart throughout his college career, the Panthers hope his excellent combination of patience, power, and intelligence will equal success in the NFL. Barring any major setbacks to a toe injury that required surgery in March, Stewart will split carries this upcoming season with Panthers tailback DeAngelo Williams.
